 CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE PISTON ROD IF THE ACTUATOR IS
_______ PRESSURIZED. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
 5)  Turn the piston rod on the actuator to adjust the clearance between the spoiler and the flap.
 NOTE: On spoilers No. 4 and 5, each 1/6 turn of the piston
____ rod will change the clearance by approximately
 0.093 inch.
 On spoilers No. 0, 1, 8 and 9, each 1/6 turn of the piston rod will change the clearance by approximately 0.045 inch.
 WARNING: DO NOT GET SOLVENTS IN YOUR MOUTH, OR YOUR EYES, OR
_______ ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM SOLVENTS. SOLVENTS MAY BE FLAMMABLE OR HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. REFER TO PRODUCT MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS (MSDS) AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPER HANDLING PROCEDURES.
 6) Clean all grease from the piston rod and the rod end threads with the solvent, Series 88 (AMM 20-30-88/201). 7) Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound to the
 threads of the piston rod end. 8) Install the locking key in the actuator rod end. 9) Tighten the checknut to 290-410 pound-inches. 10) Install the lockwire on the checknut. 11) Apply a bead of sealant to the rod end checknut. 12) Supply the systems A and B hydraulic power
 (Ref 27-62-00/201). 13) Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position to lower the spoilers if it is necessary. 14) Move the flap control lever to the UP position to lift the flaps if it is necessary. 15) Make sure the clearance between the spoiler and the flap is in the limits. 16) Remove the systems A and B hydraulic power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

AIRPLANES WITH A SPEED BRAKE LEVER POSITION SENSOR; Adjust the speed brake lever position sensor (Fig. 502):

 (a)  
Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position.

 (b)  
Install the rig pin S/B-1.

 (c)  
Remove the adjustable control rod from the speed brake drum mechanism.

 (d)  
Adjust the length of the rod to 6.00 |0.02 inches.

 (e)  
Install the rod.

 (f)  
Disconnect the electrical connector D2537 from the position sensor.

 (g)  
Connect the angle position indicator to the position sensor.

 (h)  
Turn on the angle position indicator.

 (i)  
Make sure the angle position indicator shows a value of 0 |0.5 degree.

 (j)  
If the indicator does not show 0 |0.5 degree, adjust the position sensor: 1) Loosen the clamp on the position sensor. 2) Turn the position sensor until the indicator shows 0 |0.5

 degree. 3) Tighten the clamp on the position sensor.

 (k)  
Turn the nut on the control rod until the indicator shows 0 |0.125 degree.


 NOTE: One turn of the nut will change the angle on the
____ indicator approximately 0.25 degree.
 1) Install the lockwire on the nut.
 (l)  
Turn off the position indicator.

 (m)  
Disconnect the position indicator from the position sensor.

 (n)  
Connect the electrical connector D2537 to the position sensor.

 A. General
 (1)  This procedure does a test of the ground spoilers No. 0, 1, 4, 5, 8, and 9 and the automatic speed brake operation of the flight spoilers No. 2, 3, 6, and 7. Refer to the spoiler control system test for a test of the spoiler operation of the spoilers No. 2, 3, 6, and 7.
