8) Install the lockwire on the checknut.
Examine the adjustment of the actuator input arm for spoilers
No. 6 and 7:
1) Turn the control wheel fully counterclockwise to make sure the spoilers No. 6 and 7 are in the fully retracted position.
2) Install the protractor stand and the control surface protractor on the spoiler No. 7.
NOTE: You can use a hand held protractor on the spoiler.

3) Adjust the control surface protractor to zero.
4) Turn the control wheel to 50 |5 degrees clockwise.
5) Slowly turn the control wheel counterclockwise to the neutral position. a) Make sure the spoilers No. 6 and 7 are in the fully retracted position when the control wheel is 5 |3 degrees clockwise from the neutral position. b) Make sure the clearance between the spoiler and the flap is 0.03 to 0.13 inch (Fig. 506).
6) Examine the adjustment again for the spoiler No. 6.
If the spoilers do not operate in the specified limits, adjust
the input arm:
1) Move the flap control lever to the 40-unit detent to extend the flaps.
2) Hold the control wheel 11 |1 degrees clockwise from the neutral position.
3) Loosen the checknut on the input arm (Fig. 504).
4) Turn the adjustment screw until the applicable spoiler starts to move up from the fully retracted position.
5) Move the flap control lever to the UP detent to retract the flaps.
6) Turn the control wheel and make sure the spoilers operate in the limits.
7) Tighten the checknut on the input arm to 30-40 pound-inches.
8) Install the lockwire on the checknut.

(j) Do a check of the spoiler adjustment with the protractors (Procedure 1).
NOTE: You can do a check of the spoiler adjustment with
____ protractors or a tape measure. Use procedure 1 or procedure 2 to do your check.
1) Move the speed brake lever until the spoilers No. 2, 3, 6, and 7 are up 15 |1 degrees. 2) Make sure all of the spoilers align in the limit of 1/2 degree. 3) If the spoilers do not align, adjust the input arms again.
(k) Do a check of the spoiler adjustment with a tape measure (Procedure 2). 1) With the spoilers down, make a temporary mark at the middle
span on the top surface of the spoilers No. 2, 3, 6 and 7. 2) Make a mark on the flap directly below the spoiler mark. 3) Measure the distances between the marks on the flaps to the
marks on the top surface of spoilers No. 2, 3, 6 and 7.
NOTE: These distances will give you the initial positions

of the spoilers.
4) Move the speed brake control lever until the spoiler No. 2 moves up 5.34-6.10 inches above its initial position. 5) Measure the distance spoilers No. 3, 6 and 7 moved from their initial positions.
6) Make sure the differences between the distance traveled by spoilers No. 2, 3, 6 and 7 are not more than 0.19 inch from each other.
