Adjust the FLAPS DOWN Switch


 S 865-011
 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING
_______ EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS. THE FLAPS AND SLATS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU USE THE ALTERNATE FLAP SYSTEM. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch in the DOWN position to extend the trailing edge flaps.

 (a)  
Extend the flaps until the Dimension X is 29.95 to 30.22 inches plus the dimension X1.


 NOTE: This corresponds to a flap position of approximately
____
 40-units.

 (2)  
Adjust the FLAPS DOWN SWITCH away from the cam until the switch operates:

 (a)  
Use an ohmmeter to find the point where the switch operates.


 NOTE: To check the switch actuation read across pins 1 and 3.
____ The reading will be open when the switch is actuated. You must move the switch away from the cam at the operation point.

 (3)  
Use the wrench set to tighten the switch retaining nuts.

 (a)  
Make sure the switch adjustment does not change when you tighten the nuts.

 (b)  
Install the lockwire on the retaining nuts.

 (4)  Do this task to test the FLAPS DOWN switch: "Flap Limit Switch Functional Test" (Ref Paragraph 3).

 F. Adjust the FLAPS UP SWITCH
 S 865-015
 (1)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch in the UP position to retract the trailing edge flaps:

 (a)  
Retract the flaps until the dimension X is 0.921 to 0.984 inch (Fig. 502).


 NOTE: This dimension is approximately equal to 1-3/4 to 2-1/4
____ turns between the upstop on the screw yoke and the upstop on the ball nut. Go to this position from a flaps down position.

 (2)  
Adjust the FLAPS UP SWITCH away from the cam until the switch operates:

 (a)  
Use an ohmmeter to find the point where the switch operates.


 NOTE: To check the switch actuation, read across these pins:
____ -1 and 3
 -4 and 6
 -7 and 9
 -10 and 12
 -13 and 15
 -16 and 18.
 The reading will be open when the switch is actuated. You must move the switch away from the cam at the operation point.

Use the wrench set to tighten the switch retaining nuts.

 (a)  
Make sure the switch adjustment does not change when you tighten the nuts.

 (b)  
Install the lockwire on the retaining nuts.

 (4)  Do this task to test the FLAPS UP switch: "Flap Limit Switch Functional Test" (Ref Paragraph 3).
