_______ WING UNLESS YOU REMOVE THE HYDRAULIC POWER. THE SPOILERS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(b)
Lift the spoiler or extend the flaps to get access to the spoiler actuator: 1) Move the speed brake lever to the UP position to lift the
spoilers. 2) Put the flap control lever in the 40-unit detent to extend the flaps. 3) Remove the trailing edge access panel to get access to the spoiler actuator if you extended the flaps. 4) Remove the systems A and B hydraulic power (Ref 27-61-00/201).
(c)
Loosen the checknut on the actuator rod end.
(d)
Disengage the locking key from the piston rod.
CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE PISTON ROD IF THE ACTUATOR IS PRESSURIZED.
_______ YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
(e) Turn the piston rod end to adjust the clearance between the spoiler and the flap.
NOTE: Each 1/4 turn of the actuator piston rod will change the
____
clearance by approximately 0.10 inch.

(f)
Clean all grease from the piston rod and the rod end threads with the solvent, Series 88 (AMM 20-30-88/201).
(g)
Engage the locking key with the piston rod.

(h)
Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound to the rod end threads.
(i)
Tighten the checknut to 350-400 pound-inches.
(j)
Install the lockwire on the checknut and the locking key.
(k)
Apply a bead of sealant to the rod end checknut.

Do a check of the clearance between the spoiler and the flaps with the hydraulic power:
(a)
Supply the systems A and B hydraulic power (Ref 27-61-00/201).
(b)
Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position to lower the spoilers if it is necessary.
(c)
Move the flap control lever to the UP detent to lift the flaps if it is necessary.
(d)
Turn the captain's aileron control wheel clockwise or counterclockwise to make sure that the applicable spoilers are in the fully down position. 1) Turn the control wheel clockwise to lower the spoilers
No. 2 or 3. 2) Turn the control wheel counterclockwise to lower the spoilers No. 6 or 7.
(e)
Make sure the clearance between the rub strip on the spoiler and the flap is 0.03 to 0.13 inch at the closest point.
(f)
If the clearance between the spoiler and the flap is not in the limits, adjust the clearance.
(g)
Install the trailing edge access panel if it is necessary.
G.
Adjust the input arm on the spoiler actuator.
NOTE: It is only necessary to adjust the input arm on the actuator
____
that you installed.

(1)
Install the protractor mount and the protractor on the captain's aileron control wheel.
(2)
Install the straightedge across the two aileron control wheels.
(3)
Set the protractor to zero.
(4)
Remove the straightedge from the control wheels.
(5)
Supply the systems A and B hydraulic power (Ref 27-61-00/201).
