(a)
Open the forward access door.
(b)
Remove the left forward nose wheel panel.

If you will install a new spoiler ratio changer, remove the two-bolt couplings from the spoiler ratio changer (Fig. 401):
(a)
Remove the two-bolt coupling from the speed brake input shaft.
(b)
Remove the two-bolt couplings from the two spoiler mixer output shafts.

Disconnect the spoiler control cables from the spoiler output quadrants (Fig. 402):
(a)
Install the cable clamps to keep a small tension on the cable.
(b)
Remove the lockwire from the turnbuckles in the main wheel well.
(c)
Remove the lock clips from the turnbuckles.
(d)
Release the tension in the cables.
NOTE: Do not disconnect the turnbuckles.

(e)
Attach a tag to the cables for identification during the installation.
