Remove the cables from the spoiler output quadrants.


 S 034-009
 (3)  
Disconnect the speed brake control cables from the speed brake input quadrant (Fig. 403):

 (a)  
Install the cable clamps at the pressure seals in the wheel well to keep a small tension on the cables.

 (b)  
Remove the lock clips from the turnbuckles in the lower nose compartment.

 (c)  
Release the tension in the cables.


 NOTE: Do not disconnect the turnbuckles.

 (d)  
Attach a tag to the cables for identification during the installation.

 (e)  
Remove the cable SBB from the speed brake input quadrant.


 S 034-010
 (4)  
Disconnect the ratio changer input rod from the input crank (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Remove the bolt that attaches the input rod to the input crank.

 (b)  
If you will install a new ratio changer, remove the rod end bolt from the input rod.


 S 034-011
 (5)  
Loosen the rod guard to get access to the ratio changer mounting bolts:

 (a)  
Remove the four bolts that attach the rod guard.

 (b)  
Move the rod guard until you can get access to the mounting bolts.


 S 024-012
 (6)  
Remove the ratio changer:

 (a)  
Remove the three bolts that attach the ratio changer.

 (b)  
Remove the three mounting bushings from the ratio changer.

 (c)  
Remove the ratio changer from the airplane.

 (d)  
Remove the cable SBA from the ratio changer.
