3. Engine Throttle Switch Installation

A. General
(1)
There are two procedures to adjust the engine throttle switch you can use one of the two. Procedure 1 uses the ohmmeter and procedure 2 uses the aural warn system.

Install the engine throttle switch:
(a)
Install the S1 - S4 switches: 1) Install the switch. 2) Install the drilled straight pin. 3) Install the cotter pin in the drilled straight pin.
(b)
Install the S5 switch: 1) Install the switch. 2) Apply the primer to the bolt threads. 3) Install the bolt in the switch pack.
(c)
Connect the electrical wires to the terminals on the switch.

Procedure 1 - adjusts the engine throttle switch using the ohmmeter.
NOTE: If you do procedure 1, do not do procedure 2 using the aural warn

system.

Adjust the engine throttle switch (Fig. 401):
(a)
Make sure the adjustment of the engine control system is correct (Ref 76-11-00/501).
(b)
Put the applicable thrust lever and throttle lever in the idle stop position.

(c) Install the control surface protractor on the applicable
throttle lever.
(d) Set the protractor to the 0 degree position.
(e) Connect the ohmmeter to pins 4 and 5 on connector P1.
ú (f) Slowly move the thrust lever forward until there is continuity
between pins 4 and 5 on connector P1.
ú 1) Make sure the thrust lever is 8.5 to 10.5 degrees forward
of the idle stop position.
ú 2) If there is no continuity with the thrust lever at the
specified position, turn the S1-S4 adjusment bolt clockwise
until there is continuity between pins 4 and 5.
ú (g) Move the thrust lever to the idle position.
1) Make sure there is no continuity between pins 4 and 5 on
connector P1.
(h) Remove the ohmmeter from pins 4 and 5.
ú (i) Remove the protractor from the thrust lever.
(j) Install the protractor on the reverse thrust lever.
(k) Adjust the protractor to show zero degrees with the reverse
thrust lever fully forward and down (stow position).
(l) Check that rig pin 1 (F70207-23) can be inserted freely in the
torque switch mechanism of the autothrottle.
(m) If the rig pin cannot be inserted refer to cable rigging checks
in AMM 76-11-00/501 for reverse thrust lever clearance.
