Loosen the nut on the bolt that attaches the piston rod end to the idler crank.

 (b)  
Loosen the nut on the bolt that attaches the actuator to the structure.

 (c)  
Remove the two bolts from the actuator.

 (d)  
Remove the actuator from the airplane.

Remove the two hydraulic unions from the actuator:

Install the caps in the hydraulic ports.

Procedure


 S 434-010
 (1)  
Install the hydraulic unions in the actuator:

 (a)  
Remove the caps from the hydraulic ports on the actuator.

 (b)  
Apply a thin layer of the hydraulic fluid or the assembly lube on the O-rings.

 (c)  
Install the O-rings and the unions in the hydraulic ports.

 (2)  
Install the ground spoiler actuator:

 (a)
Put the actuator in its position in the airplane.

 (b)
Install the two bolts with the heads outboard.

 (c)  
Install the washer and nut on the bolt that attaches the piston rod end to the idler crank. 1) Tighten the nut to 290-410 pound-inches.

 (d)  
Install the washer and nut on the bolt that attaches the actuator to the structure. 1) Tighten the nut to 630-950 pound-inches.

Connect the hydraulic tubes to the actuator:

 (a)  
Make sure the hydraulic pressure in system A is released (Ref 27-62-00/201).

 (b)  
Remove the caps from the hydraulic tubes.

 (c)  
Connect the hydraulic tubes to the unions on the actuator.

 (4)  
Move the FLIGHT CONTROL SPOILER A and B switches to the OFF
 position.

Supply the system A hydraulic power (Ref 27-62-00/201).

Move the speed brake lever through its full cycle to bleed the hydraulic system.

Examine the hydraulic connections on the actuator for leakage.

Do the functional test of the ground spoiler actuator

Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Supply the system B hydraulic power (Ref 27-62-00/201).

Move the flap control lever to the UP position to retract the trailing edge flaps.

Remove the systems A and B hydraulic power (Ref 27-62-00/201).
