1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. There is a task for the adjustment and a task for the functional test of the actuator for the No. 4 and 5 ground spoilers.

Prepare for the Adjustment

(1)
Supply the electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).

(2)
Supply the systems A and B hydraulic power (Ref 27-62-00/201).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE SPEEDBRAKE ARMED LIGHT IS ON WHEN YOU MANUALLY
_______ LIFT THE SPEED BRAKES. THE SPOILER PANELS CAN RETRACT AUTOMATICALLY BY THE SPEED BRAKE LEVER ACTUATOR. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Move the speed brake lever to the UP position to lift the spoilers.

Move the flap control lever to the UP position to fully retract the trailing edge flaps.

Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position to lower the spoilers.

Move the FLT CONTROL SPOILER A and B switches to the OFF position.

E. Adjust the Ground Spoiler Actuator
S 225-008
(1)
Examine the clearance between the ground spoiler and the flap (Fig. 501):
(a)
Make sure the clearance is in the tolerance for each actuator shown in Fig. 501.

(2)
Adjust the clearance between the spoiler and the flap if it is not in the limits:
(a)
Measure and make a record of the clearance between the spoiler and the flap.
WARNING: DO NOT PUT A PART OF YOUR BODY BETWEEN THE SPOILER AND THE
_______ WING UNLESS YOU REMOVE THE HYDRAULIC POWER. THE SPOILERS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(b)
Lift the spoiler or extend the flaps to get access to the spoiler actuator: 1) Move the speed brake lever to the UP position to lift the
spoilers. 2) Move the flap control lever to the 40-unit detent to extend the flaps. 3) Remove the system A and B hydraulic power (Ref 27-62-00/201).
(c)
Loosen the checknut on the rod end of the actuator.
(d)
Remove the locking key from the piston rod.
CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE PISTON ROD IF THE ACTUATOR IS PRESSURIZED.

YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
(e) Turn the piston rod end to adjust the clearance between the spoiler and the flap.
NOTE: Each 1/6 turn of the piston rod end will change the
____ clearance by approximately 0.093 inch.
