Make sure the tension in the two cables is approximately the same.

If you cannot easily install the rig pins, if the tension is not in the limits, or if you installed new cables, adjust the cable tension: 1) Install the rig pins A/S-1 and A/S-1A in the transfer


 mechanism (Fig. 502). 2) Adjust the cables until you can easily install the rig pin A/S-3 (Fig. 503). 3) Make sure the tension in the cables is in the limits shown in the Fig. 501. 4) Make sure the tension in the cables is approximately the same.

TO MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CORRECT CABLE TENSION, PERMIT THE AIRFRAME TEMPERATURE TO STABILIZE (+/-5 DEGREES) FOR A MINIMUM OF ONE HOUR.
FOR A PERIODIC ADJUSTMENT WITHOUT A DISCREPANCY REPORT, THE CABLE TENSION LIMITS ARE +15/-30 POUNDS FROM THE VALUES IN THE TABLE I. FOR CABLE TENSION CHECKS AFTER A DISCREPANCY REPORT, THE LIMITS ARE |15 POUNDS FROM THE VALUES IN THE TABLE. WHENEVER YOU ADJUST THE TENSION OF THE CABLE, YOU MUST GET THE VALUES IN THE TABLE.

 5) Install the lock clips on the turnbuckles. 6) Remove the rig pins No. A/S-1, A/S-1A, and A/S-3.
 (h)  Close the forward access door.

Adjust the aileron spring cartridge:

 (a)  
Disconnect the spring cartridge from the lower lever on the spoiler control quadrant (Fig. 503).

 (b)  
Install the rig pin A/S-3 in the lower lever of the spoiler control quadrant.

 (c)  
Install the rig pin A/S-4 in the aileron bus drum.

 (d)  
Make sure you can install the bolt to connect the cartridge to the lower lever with no deflection in the cartridge. 1) Adjust the spring cartridge if you cannot install the bolt: 2) Loosen the rod end checknut. 3) Adjust the rod end until you can install the bolt. 4) Tighten the rod end checknut to 10-20 pound-inches.
