Procedure


 S 484-008
 (1)  
Install the rig pin S/B-1 in the forward drum of the speed brake mechanism.

 (a)  
Adjust the speed brake mechanism if you cannot easily install the rig pin: 1) Disconnect the top end of the lower control rod from the


 idler link. 2) Install the rig pin. 3) Loosen the checknut and adjust the rod end until you can
 install the bolt. 4) Install the bolt, washers and nut to attach the rod end to
 the idler link. 5) Tighten the checknut on the rod end. 6) Make sure you can see the rod end in the inspection hole of
 the lower control rod.

 (2)  Apply 28V DC to pins 1 and 7 on the actuator to extend the actuator.
 NOTE:____Use pin 1 as the ground. The pins on the actuator have numbers.

 (3)  
Install the speed brake lever actuator (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Put the actuator in its position in the airplane.

 (b)  
Install the bolt that attaches the actuator to the structure.

 (c)  
Install the washer and nut on the bolt.

 (d)  
Install the cotter pin.

 (e)  
Manually turn the lever brake forward until the internal stop touches.

 (f)  
Adjust the rod end fitting on the actuator: 1) Loosen the checknut on the rod end. 2) Adjust the rod end until you can install the bolt through


 the lever brake and the actuator.
 NOTE: To make the alignment easier, you can loosen the
____ lever brake a distance equal to one-half turn of the actuator rod end.
 3) Install the bolt to attach the actuator to the lever brake. 4) Tighten the checknut on the rod end hand tight. 5) Remove the bolt that attaches the actuator to the lever
 brake. 6) Loosen the checknut on the actuator rod end. 7) Turn the rod end in one full turn. 8) Tighten the checknut and bend the tabs on the lockwasher.
 (g)  
Manually turn the lever brake until it aligns with the rod end of the actuator.

 (h)  
Install the bolt, washer and nut to attach the rod end of the actuator to the lever brake.

 (i)  
Install the cotter pin in the nut.

 (4)  
Remove the rig pin S/B-1.

Apply 28V DC to pins 1 and 3 on the actuator to retract the actuator.

Manually move the speed brake lever through the full travel to make sure it moves freely.

 (7)  S 034-014Install the bonding jumper: (a) Clean the mating surfaces of the bonding jumper. (b) Install the bolt, washers and nut to attach the bonding jumper. (c) Use the milliohmmeter to make sure the resistance of the bonding jumper connection is less than 0.010 ohms.
 (8)  S 434-015Install the electrical connector.
 (9)  S 864-016Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers: (a) P6 Panel 1) AUTO SPEED BRAKE
