Remove the caps from the hydraulic ports on the actuator.

 (c)  
Install the O-rings and the unions in the hydraulic ports.

Install the actuator for the flight spoiler:

 (a)  
Remove the caps from the hydraulic lines.

 (b)  
Put the actuator in its position on the structure with the hydraulic ports aligned with the hydraulic lines.

 (c)  
Loosely connect the hydraulic lines to the actuator.

 (d)  
Install the four bolts to attach the actuator to the structure:


 CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT INSTALL A WASHER ON THE SHORT
_______ TOP BOLT. THE BOLT CAN TOUCH THE ACTUATOR DURING THE OPERATION OF THE ACTUATOR. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
 1) Install the short top bolt without a washer to attach the actuator. 2) Install the three remaining bolts with washers to attach
 the actuator.
 3) Tighten the two top bolts to 450-550 pound-inches.
 4) Tighten the two bottom bolts to 225-275 pound-inches.
 (e)  Tighten the hydraulic lines on the actuator.

 (4)  
Connect the actuator link to the input arm:

 (a)  
Install the bolt in the forward position of the input arm with the bolt head left.

 (b)  
Install the washer and nut on the bolt.

 (c)  
Install the cotter pin.

 (d)  
Apply a layer of the BMS 5-95 sealant to the bolt, washer, nut and cotter pin.

 (5)  
Connect the rod end for the actuator piston rod to the spoiler panel:

 (a)  
Apply a layer of the BMS 3-24 grease to the bolt.

 (b)  
Install the bolt with the head left.

 (c)  
Install the washers and nut on the bolt.

 (d)  
Tighten the nut to 350-400 pound-inches.

 (e)  
Install the cotter pin.

Examine the Clearance Between the Spoiler and the Flap

 (1) Move the speed brake lever to the UP position to lift the spoilers.

Move the flap control lever to the UP detent to fully retract the trailing edge flaps.

Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position.

Do a check of the clearance between the spoiler and the flap without the hydraulic power (Fig. 402):

 (a)  
Manually lower the spoiler panel until the actuator piston is fully retracted.

Make sure the clearance between the rub strip on the spoiler and the flap is 0.03 to 0.13 inch at the closest point.

Adjust the clearance between the spoiler and the flap if it is not in the tolerance:

 (a)  
Supply the systems A and B hydraulic power (Ref 27-61-00/201).
