Make sure the lever latch is in the DOWN detent on the control stand.

In the lower nose compartment, make sure you can easily install the rig pin S/B-1 through the forward drum quadrant (Fig. 502).

If you cannot easily install the rig pin, adjust the lower control rod: 1) Disconnect the top end of the lower control rod from the
idler link (Fig. 502). 2) Install the rig pin S/B-1 in the forward drum quadrant. 3) Loosen the checknut on the lower control rod. 4) Adjust the lower control rod until you can easily install
the rod end bolt. 5) Install the bolt with a washer below the head to attach the lower control rod to the idler link.

6) Install the washer and nut on the bolt.
7) Tighten the checknut on the rod end.
8) Make sure you can see the rod end through the inspection
hole on the control rod.Make sure the pointer on the aft face of the speed brake lever aligns with the detents: 1) Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position. 2) Make sure the pointer aligns with the center of the DOWN
marker on the control stand. 3) Move the speed brake lever to the ARMED position. 4) Make sure the pointer aligns with the center of the ARMED
