(1)
Remove the leading edge:
(a)
Remove the bolts that attach the lower surface of the leading edge to the front spar.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE LEADING EDGE DOES NOT MOVE OFF THE FRONT
_______ SPAR UNTIL YOU REMOVE ALL THE BOLTS. IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE LEADING EDGE.
(b)
Remove the bolts that attach the top surface of the leading edge to the front spar.
(c)
Hold each end of the leading edge.
(d)
Remove the leading edge.

(1)
Install the leading edge:
(a)
Set the leading edge in its position on the stabilizer front spar.
(b)
Install the bolts that attach the top surface of the leading edge to the front spar.
(c)
Install the bolts that attach the lower surface of the leading edge to the front spar. 1) Tighten the bolts to 23-28 pound-inches.

1. General_______
A. This procedure has two tasks, one for the removal and one for the installation of the horizontal stabilizer center section hinge fitting. (Which is referred to as the hinge fitting). The hinge bearing is a part of the hinge housing fitting. The procedure has these parts:
(1)
The removal of the hinge housing fitting
(2)
The installation of the hinge housing fitting.
B.
You can remove the housing fittings of the horizontal stabilizer center section hinge (which have the hinge bearings) without the removal of the outboard stabilizer sections.
C.
The removal and installation procedures are the same for the right and left hinge housing fittings.
D.
You must do the removal and installation of the hinge housing fitting on one side at a time.

(1)
Set the stabilizer to the maximum leading edge down position.
(2)
Set the horizontal stabilizer trim cutout switches to CUTOUT.
