With the flaps fully extended, make sure the angular clearance between the downstops on the ballscrew is a minimum of 1/4 turn.

Make sure the opposite midflaps are symmetrical in the limit of 1 degree:

 (a)  
Install the protractor assembly on the midflaps: 1) On the inboard midflaps, install the protractor at the lower surface at the middle of the span.

 2)  On the outboard midflaps, install the protractor at the outboard flap track.

 (b)  
Put the flap control lever in the 40-unit position to extend the flaps.

 (c)  
On the outboard flap, lift the trailing edge of the midflap until the flight load rollers touch the flap track.

 (d)  
Make sure the angles for the opposite midflaps are symmetrical in the limit of 1 degree.

 (e)  
If the opposite flaps are not in the limit, adjust the flap transmissions: 1) Disconnect the torque tubes from the applicable


 transmissions. 2) Turn the input shafts on the transmissions until the
 opposite flaps are symmetrical. 3) Connect the torque tubes to the transmissions. 4) Install the screws to connect the coupling sleeves to the
 couplings. 5) Install the lockwire on the screws. 6) Do a check of the angular clearance of the ballscrew and
 the clearance of the seal again.
