Adjust the foreflap rod to get the 0.08 +/-0.03 inch clearance between the cam and the midspar cutout (Section A-A, Fig. 405).

 (e)  
Make sure the clearance between the exhaust gate actuation mechanism and the structure is a minimum of 0.10 inch, except at the midspar cutout.

 (f)  
Make sure the lower surface of the midflap and the exhaust gate align in the limit of +0.00 to -0.15 inch.

 (g)  If the exhaust gate and the midflap are not in the tolerance, adjust the exhaust gate pushrod: 1) Install a support to hold the exhaust gate in its position. 2) Remove the rod from the exhaust gate and the exhaust gate
 actuation mechanism.
 3) Adjust the length of the pushrod.

 NOTE: One half turn of the end fitting will move the
____ trailing edge of the exhaust gate approximately
 0.127 inch.
 4)  Install the pushrod on the exhaust gate and the actuation mechanism. a) Tighten the nuts to 100-120 pound-inches.
 5)  Remove the support from the exhaust gate.
 (h)  Install the outboard panel from the lower surface of the midflap.

 Make sure the clearance between the outboard flap track fairing and the seal plates is in the limits shown in Fig. 402.

 (a)  
If the clearance is not in the tolerance, adjust the seal plates: 1) Loosen the screws and move the seal plate to get the


 correct clearance.
 2) Tighten the screws.

 Adjust the preload on the flap drive screw (Fig. 403):

 (a)  
Make sure the radial clearance between the end fitting (1) on the outboard drive screw and the preload pad (2) is in the tolerance shown in Fig. 403.

 (b)  
If the clearance is not in the tolerance, adjust the preload pad: 1) Remove the two bolts (3) from the gimbal shaft (5). 2) Turn and move the index plate to move the end fitting. 3) Turn the index plate to the nearest bolt that aligns with


 the bearing support fitting (7).
 4)  Adjust the thickness of the shims (6) to fill the clearance between the index plate (4) and the bearing support fitting (7).
 5) Install the bolts (3).
 6) Make sure the clearance is in the tolerance.

 Examine the position of the inboard drive screw end fitting (11):

 (a)  
Make sure the flap drive screw is in the correct position (Fig. 404): 1) Measure rearward from the ballscrew nut to find the point A

 on the outer side of the flap drive screw. 2) Make sure the distance from the point A to the midflap rib fitting is in the limits shown.

 (b)  
Move the flap drive screw if it is necessary: 1) Remove the bolts (14, Fig. 403) from the end of the inboard midflap torque shaft (12). 2) Pull the gimbal shaft (13) inboard sufficiently to release the shims (15). 3) Adjust the thickness of the shims (15) to change the

 position of the point A: 4) Install the bolts (14) and measure the location of point A.

 (c)  
Make sure the clearance between the end fitting (11, Fig. 403) on the inboard drive screw and the preload pad (10) are in the tolerance shown.
