 1.  General_______
 A.  This subject has one task. The task is an inspection of the upper and lower gimbal. The procedure has these parts:
 (1)  
The removal of the stabilizer trim jackscrew gearbox

 (2)  
An inspection of the upper and lower gimbals

 (3)  
The installation of the stabilizer trim jackscrew gearbox.

Micrometer - 0-1, 1-2 inches

 (1)  
Do this task: "Stabilizer Ball Nut and Jackscrew Gearbox Removal" (AMM 27-41-81/401).

 (2)  
Examine the parts for worn areas:

 (a)  
Use a micrometer or a vernier caliper to measure the parts for the worn areas.

 (b)  
Compare the dimensions you measured with the permitted dimensions shown in Fig. 601.
