 (9)  Keep the dimensions X and Y and tighten the cables (1 and 9) to a tension of 200 | 20 pounds.
 NOTE: The tension in the cables must be approximately 200 pounds at
____ 70°F. You can increase the tension if the temperature is higher. You can decrease the tension if the temperature is lower. Do not decrease the tension to less than 180 pounds or increase it to more than 220 pounds.

 Measure the dimension between the midflap lower skin and the aftflap trailing edge in the area of the pushrods (8 and 10).

 (a)  
Make sure the dimension is 16.00 | 0.12 inch.

 (b)  
If the distance is not in the tolerance, adjust the pushrods (8 and 10).

 (c)  
When the adjustment is completed, tighten the checknuts to engage the keys and install the lockwire.

 (11) Examine the seal and make sure the leading edge of the aftflap is
 0.15 |0.03 inch aft of the seal retainer with the flaps retracted:
 (a)  
Extend the aftflap.

 (b)  
Make a line on the bottom surface of the aftflap 2.00 inches aft of the leading edge.

 (c)  
Retract the aftflap.

 (d)  
Make a line on the midflap 2.15 inches forward of the line on the aftflap.

 (e)  
Extend the aftflap.

 (f)  
Make sure the aft side of the seal retainer vertically aligns with the line on the midflap.

 (g)  
If the seal retainer does not align in the tolerance, add or remove the shims below the seal retainer at each fastener.

 Make sure the clearance at the ends of the flap between the trailing edge of the foreflap and the top of the midflap is in the limits shown.

 (a)  
If the clearance is not in the tolerance, change the number of shims between the foreflap and the foreflap track.

 Make sure the clearance between the trailing edge of the midflap and the top of the aftflap is 0.06 +0.09/-0.05 inch.

 (a)  
Adjust the clearance while you keep the 16.00 |0.12 inch dimension. 1) Adjust the pushrods (8 and 10) to make a small adjustment. 2) To make a large adjustment, adjust the shim thickness


 (0.066 inch maximum permitted) at the lower attach point of the midflap trailing edge.
 3)  If you cannot get the correct clearance, you must replace the defective or damaged parts.

 Install the access panels in the lower surface of the midflap.

 If the flap is installed, do this task:  "Inboard Flap Track Fairing Installation" (Ref 27-51-32/401).

 A.  This procedure contains one task: an inspection of the inboard trailing edge flap. To do this check you measure the diameters of parts of the exhaust gate actuator mechanism.
