 Install the upper and lower gap covers of the front and rear spar of the stabilizer outboard section.

 (a)  
If it is applicable, install all the other gap covers and the stabilizer-to-body seals.

 Install the access panels 3801, 3802 and the pushrod bolt access plate.

 Remove the stabilizer trim lock assembly from the control stand (Fig. 401).

 Adjust the stabilizer-to-body seal:

 (a)  Set the stabilizer at zero degrees trim (three units of trim).
 (b)  Make sure that the clearance between the stabilizer-to-body
 blade seals and the body along the upper and lower stabilizer
 edge is in the limit of Fig. 405.
 1) Adjust the seals in or out if it is necessary:
 NOTE: The bulb seals, which are installed at many____
 locations, usually touch and push against the
 airplane body. The clearance is not applicable to
 the bulb seals.
 (c)  Move the stabilizer leading edge to the full down position (the
 ball nut is against the downstop).
 (d)  Make sure the blade seal clearance is in the limit of Fig. 405
 at these locations:
 1) The stabilizer-to-body blade seal installed at the leading
 edge of the stabilizer from the upper to the lower surface.
 a) Adjust the seal if it is necessary.
 2) The blade seal segment adjacent to the gap cover of the
 upper spar.
 a) Adjust the seal if it is necessary.
 (e)  Examine the clearances between the elevator and the airplane
 body:
 1) Set the stabilizer at three units of trim and the elevator
 in the neutral position.
 a) Make sure the clearance of the elevator-to-body seal is
 in the limit of Fig. 405.
 b) Adjust the seal if it is necessary.
 2) Move the stabilizer leading edge to the full up position
 (the ball nut is against the upstop).

 3) Move the elevator trailing edge 8.80 | 0.05 inches up from the index plate on the tail cone. 4) Make sure that the clearance of the elevator-to-body seal is in the limit of Fig. 405.

 1) AUTOPILOT STABILIZER TRIM SERVO

 Adjust the elevator (AMM 27-31-00/501).

 Use the stabilizer trim wheel to make sure that the stabilizer operates through full travel between the stops.
