 8) Set the stabilizer to 5 units of trim, if necessary.
 (b) Set the autopilot cutout switch to CUTOUT.
 1) The autopilot will disengage.
 2) Move the control column a minimum of two inches forward
 then a minimum of two inches aft.
 3) Make sure the system does not operate.
 (c) Set the autopilot cutout switch to NORMAL.
 1) Engage the autopilot.
 2) Move the control column a minimum of two inches forward and
 then a minimum of two inches aft.
 3) Make sure the stabilizer moves in the correct direction.
 (d) Disengage the autopilot.

 STABILIZER TRIM LIMIT SWITCHES - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure has two tasks, one for the removal and one for the installation of the stabilizer trim limit switch (which is referred to as the "limit switch"). The procedure has these parts:
 (1)  
The removal of the limit switch

 (2)  
The installation of the limit switch.

 B.  
There are four limit switches S115, S144, S145 and S844 and two stabilizer takeoff warning switches on the brackets along the stabilizer jackscrew. Refer to AMM 31-26-24/401 for the removal and installation procedures of the stabilizer takeoff warning switches (S132 and S546).

 C.  
The limit switches stop the travel of the horizontal stabilizer at the limits. The limit switches operate to stop the stabilizer travel by a cam on the jackscrew attach fitting of the stabilizer center section.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P6-2 Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) STABILIZER TRIM CONT
 2) If it is necessary:

Remove the limit switch:

 (a)  
Disconnect the switch wires at the wire connection.

 (b)  
Remove the switch arm: 1) Remove the switch arm nut. 2) Pull the switch arm from the switch shaft.

 (c)  
Remove the limit switch: 1) Hold the limit switch while you remove the switch nut.
