 b) Spring Scale Method:___________________Attach the Spring Scale to the trim wheel handle using the hook. Pull on the Spring Scale until the clutch disengages. The force necessary to disengage the clutch is 39-52 pounds.
 2)  Stop the handwheel.

Procedure


 S 015-046
 (1)  
Open the access door 3701.

 S 735-044

 (2)  
Do a test of the stabilizer trim auxiliary brake (Fig. 504):

 (a)  
Turn the captain's stabilizer trim control wheel on the control stand approximately two turns clockwise.

 (b)  
Put a 500 pound-inches clockwise torque to the upstop of the jackscrew and hold. 1) Make sure you do not put the torque on the safety rod nut. 2) Make one line on the gearbox coverplate and the umbrella

 assembly.
 3) Release the torque.


 (c)  
Put a 500 pound-inches counterclockwise torque to the upstop of the jackscrew and hold. 1) Make a line on the umbrella assembly in line with the line

 on the coverplate.
 2) Release the torque.


 (d)  
At the outer edge of the umbrella assembly, use a flexible scale to measure the arc distance between the lines. 1) On 65-49970-13 thru -24 stabilizer trim actuators,


 make sure that the arc distance dimension is not more than
 0.52 inch (17.6 degrees).
 2)  On 65-49970-25 and subsequent stabilizer trim actuators, and 65-49970-13 thru -24 actuator with SB 27-1161, make sure that the arc distance dimension is not more than
 0.62 inch (21.0 degrees).
 (e)  
Turn the captain's stabilizer trim control wheel on the control stand approximately two turns counterclockwise.

 (f)  
Put a 500 pound-inches counterclockwise torque to the upstop of the jackscrew and hold. 1) Make sure you do not put the torque on the safety rod nut. 2) Make one line on the gearbox coverplate and the umbrella


 assembly.
