 STABILIZER TRIM LIMIT SWITCHES - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure has two tasks, one for the adjustment and one for the operational test of the stabilizer trim limit switches S115, S145, S844 (which is referred to as the "limit switch"). The purpose of these limit switch tests is to ensure that there are a minimum of three turns of stabilizer trim wheel adjustment between the electrical cutout of the limit switches and the mechanical stops of the ballscrew. This ensures that there is enough ballscrew travel after limit switch cutout so that contact of the stops does not occur during system coastdown. The procedure has these parts:

The adjustment of the limit switch

 (2)
The operational test of the limit switch. ú B. Refer to AMM 22-11-00/501 for the test of the limit switch S144. ú C. Refer to AMM 22-11-00/501 or AMM 22-11-01/501 for the test of the limit ú switch S144.

Refer to AMM 31-26-00/501 for the adjustment and test of the stabilizer takeoff warning switches S132 and S546.

 (1)  
Open the access door 3701 (AMM 12-31-41/201).

 (2)
Use the trammel bar to set the necessary B dimension (Table I).

Adjust the switch arm:

 (a)  
Loosen the lockscrew.

 (b)  
Turn the worm gear until the switch starts to operate (when you hear a click).

 (c)  
Tighten the lockscrew.

 (d)  
Install a lockwire on the lockscrew.
