 CAUTION:_______ DURING GROUND OPERATIONS, DO NOT OPERATE THE FLAP
 ALTERNATE DRIVE UNIT FOR MORE THAN 4 MINUTES ON AND 25
 MINUTES OFF.  YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ALTERNATE DRIVE

 UNIT.
 (g)  Move the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch to the DOWN position. Hold the switch in this position until the flaps stops.
 NOTE: The extension of the trailing edge flaps is controlled
____ by a limit switch.
 (h)  
Make sure the time necessary to extend the flaps is 146 +10/-20 seconds.

 (i)  
At the No. 4 transmission, measure the dimension X. Refer to this as the dimension X2 (Fig. 505).

 (j)  
Make sure that the dimension X2 - X1 is 29.65 to 30.18 inches.


 NOTE: Use the dimension X1 from before.

 (k)  
Move the flap control lever to the UP detent.

 (l)  
Move the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch to the UP position. Hold the switch in this position until the flaps stops.


 NOTE: The retraction of the trailing edge flaps is controlled
____ by a limit switch.
 (m)  Make sure the time necessary to retract the flaps is 146
 +10/-20 seconds.
 (n)  At the No. 4 transmission, measure the dimension X.  Refer to
 this as the dimension X2.
 (o)  Make sure the dimension X2 is 0.921 to 0.984 inch.
 NOTE:____ This dimension is approximately equal to 1-3/4 to 2-1/4
 turns between the upstops on the ballscrew yoke and the
 ballscrew nut.
 (p)  Move the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch to the OFF position.
 (q)  Move the ALTERNATE FLAP arm switch to the OFF position.
 (r)  Permit the leading edge flaps and slats to fully retract.

 Remove the system B hydraulic power (AMM 27-51-00/201).

 Do a test of the operation force for the flap control lever:

 (a)  
Install a spring scale at the end of the flap control lever.

 (b)  
Make sure the force necessary to move the flap control lever is not more than 2.5 pounds.

 Do a test of the priority valve system:

 (a)  
Supply the system B hydraulic power with the electric hydraulic pump (AMM 27-51-00/201).

 (b)  
Make sure the flap control lever is in the UP detent.

 (c)  
Make sure the leading edge flaps and slats are in the retracted position.

 (d)  
Make sure the trailing edge flaps are in the retracted position.

 (e)  
Extend and retract the flaps to let the system B hydraulic fluid become warm.

 (f)  
Move the flap control lever from the UP detent to the 5-unit position. 1) Make sure the speed of the TE flap drive torque tube


 decreases during the leading edge flap extension.
 2)  Make sure that system B pressure does not show less than 2325 psi for more than 1 second during the TE flaps extension.
 3)  Make sure the speed of the TE flap drive torque tube increases when the leading edge flaps and slats are fully extended.

 4)  Make sure the system B pressure stays between 2325 and 2800 psi while the TE flaps extend to the 5-unit position.
 (g)  Move the flap control lever to the UP detent. 1) Make sure the speed of the TE torque tube decreases during the leading edge flap and slat retraction.
 2)  Make sure the system B pressure does not show less than 2325 psi for more than 1 second during the TE flaps retraction.
 3)  Make sure the speed of the TE torque tubes increases when the leading edge flaps and slats are retracted. 4) Make sure the system B pressure stays between 2325 and 2800 psi while the TE flaps retract to the 0-degree position.
