 STABILIZER TRIM CONTROL SWITCH - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure has two tasks, one for the removal and one for the installation of the stabilizer trim control switch assembly (which is referred to as the "switch assembly"). The procedure has these parts:
 (1)  
The removal of the switch assembly

 (2)  
The installation of the switch assembly.

 B.  
The switch assembly has an electrical cable which went along the control wheel handle to a terminal block in the control wheel. If a switch becomes defective, the electrical cable and the switch are replaced as an assembly.

 2.  Stabilizer Trim Control Switch Removal (Fig. 401)______________________________________

Procedure

 S 864-002
 (1)  
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P6-2 Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) STABILIZER TRIM CONT

 S 014-010
 (2)  
Remove the terminal block cover.

 S 024-003

 (3)  
Remove the switch assembly:

 (a)  
Disconnect the switch wires from the terminal block.

 (b)  
Remove the terminals from the wires to help the removal.

 (c)  
Disconnect the switch from the control wheel handle.

 (d)  
Attach the wire guide to the end of the electrical cable.

 (e)  
Remove the electrical cable through the core and through the switch assembly hole.

 (f)  
Disconnect the electrical cable and let the wire guide to stay in the control wheel handle.

Apply talcum powder to the exterior of the electrical cable.

 (2)  
Install the switch assembly:

 CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PULL THE ELECTRICAL CABLE. IF YOU APPLY TOO MUCH LOAD, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE WIRE CONNECTION AT THE SWITCH.
