 S 015-009
 (1)  Remove the access door 1103.
 S 715-010
 CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE STABILIZER ELECTRICALLY UNTIL YOU INSTALL
_______ AND ADJUST THE STABILIZER TRIM LIMIT SWITCHES. THE STABILIZER CAN MOVE QUICKLY AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO OTHER EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  
Use the stabilizer trim wheel to move the stabilizer to the
 APL NOSE DN position (stabilizer leading edge up).


 (a)  
Make sure the stabilizer jackscrew touches the stop.

 (b)  
Make sure the forward drum has approximately 4-1/2 turns of the STB cable from the top of the drum.

 (c)  
Make sure that the forward drum has approximately 28-1/2 turns of the STA cable from the bottom of the drum.

 (3)  
Adjust the cables STA and STB:

 (a)  
Operate the system until the STA and STB cables have approximately same number of turns on the forward drum.

 (b)  
If you installed new cables, do these steps to stretch the cables: 1) Adjust the forward support link (5) and the aft support


 link (2) to loosen the chain. 2) Tighten the forward turnbuckle (4) to get the cable tension
 of 350 +/-50 pounds. 3) Operate the stabilizer system through one full cycle. 4) Put the cables at the center on the drums. 5) Make sure that the cable tension is at 350 +/-50 pounds. 6) Operate the stabilizer system 5 times. 7) Make sure that the cable tension stays at 350 +/-50 pounds.
 (c)  Do these steps to adjust cables STA and STB to their correct operating tension. 1) Make sure the cable tension is in the range from Table I.
 a)  If it is not, adjust the forward support link (5) and the aft support link (2) to loosen the chain.

 (d)  Adjust the turnbuckle (4) until the rigging load agrees with the temperature chart (Table I).
 NOTE: If you cannot get the correct adjustment, You can remove
____ the old terminal and swage on a new terminal with the same part number (AMM 20-10-91/401).
 1)  Install a lockwire on the turnbuckle.
 (e)  Push against the chain assembly with a 5 pound force.
 1)  Make sure the force is approximately 4.5 +/-1.0 inches from where the chain touches the forward trim mechanism sprocket (3).
 2)  Make sure the movement of the chain assembly is
 0.25 +/-0.07 inch.
 (f)  
If it is necessary, adjust the support links (2 and 5) to get the correct chain movement.

 (g)  
Measure the eyebolt thread extension or dimension A to adjust the support links for the necessary chain deflection. 1) Measure the eyebolt thread extension.


 a) On the forward support link, measure the length of the
 eyebolt thread extension above the adjustable nuts.
 b) On the aft support link, measure the length of the two

 eyebolts thread extension below the adjustable nuts. c) Make sure that the three thread extensions are the same within 0.12 inch. 2) Measure the A dimensions of the support links:
 a)  On the aft support links, measure from the center of the aft support bolts to the threaded stud on the left and right aft support links.
 b)  On the forward support link, measure from the center of the mounting bolt to the center the bolt through the lower end of the eyebolt.
 c)  Make sure the 3 dimensions are the same within +/-0.06 inches.
 (h)  Operate the stabilizer through full travel in each direction. 1) Move the cables to the center of the forward drum and do a check of the cable tension. 2) If it is necessary, adjust the cable and the chain tension until you get the correct rigging load.
 3)  Install a lockwire on the adjusting nuts of the support links.
