Remove the bearings from the bearing retainers.


 WARNING: DO NOT GET THE PRIMER BMS 10-11 IN YOUR MOUTH OR EYES, OR
_______ ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE PRIMER. PUT ON A PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLE AND GLOVES WHEN YOU USE PRIMER. KEEP PRIMER AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME, AND HEAT. PRIMER IS A POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE SOLVENT WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (e)  
Apply the primer between each bearing and their bearing retainers.

 (f)  
Push the new bearings into the bearing retainers.

 (g)  
Apply the primer to the inner side diameter of the bearings.

 (h)  
Install the bearing on each end of the neutral shift crank.

 (i)  
Move the retainer into the long end of the neutral shift crank.

 (j)  
Install the two nuts, bolts, and washers through the clevis crank.

 (2)  
Install the neutral shift mechanism:

 (a)  
Install the neutral shift crank (Fig. 404)

 (b)  
Set the neutral shift crank between the support brackets of the feel and centering unit

 (c)  
Align the neutral shift crank with the mach trim actuator.

 1)  If it is necessary, install the spacers between each bearing housing and the support bracket.

 (d)  
Attach the neutral shift crank to the support bracket.


 1)  Install the six bolts, nuts, and washers with the bolt heads outboard.
 NOTE: Use the longer bolt through the collar bracket of
____ the position transmitter.

 (3)  
Install the input rods:

 (a)  
Attach the forward ends of the input rods to the horizontal stabilizer center section. 1) Install the two bolts, the nuts, and the washers.

 (b)  
Attach the aft (adjustable) ends of the input rods to the neutral shift crank. 1) Install the two bolts, the nuts and the washers.

 WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU TURN THE NEUTRAL SHIFT CRANK IN THE UP DIRECTION.
_______ IF YOU INSTALL THE NEUTRAL SHIFT CRANK INCORRECTLY, THE STABILIZER CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU ENGAGE THE AUTOPILOT. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (4)  
Make sure the neutral shift crank is turned up and attactch it to the mach trim actuator:

 (a)  
Install the bolt from the left to the right side.

 (b)  Install the first locknut.
 1) Tighten the locknut to 85-100 pound-inches.

 CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO TIGHTEN THE FIRST LOCKNUT AGAIN AFTER YOU
_______ TIGHTEN THE SECOND LOCKNUT. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BOLT.
 (c)  Install the second locknut.
 1) Tighten the locknut to 30-35 pound-inches.

 (5)  
Install the rods of the stabilizer position sensor.

 (a)  
If it is necessary, adjust the stabilizer position sensor (Ref 22-11-31/501).

Remove the rig pin E-5.

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:

 (a)  
P6 Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) STABILIZER TRIM ACTUATOR

 3) AUTO FLT CONT SYS B MACH TRIM AC
 4) AUTO FLT CONT SYS B MACH TRIM DC
 5) AFDS MCP CRS-2
 6) AUTO FLT CONT SYS B SNSR EXC AC
 7) AUTO FLT CONT SYS B FCC DC
 8) AUTO FLT CONT SYS B ENGAGE INTLK B
 9) AUTO FLT CONT SYS B WARN LIGHT BAT


 (b)  
P18 Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) AUTO FLT CONT SYS A MACH TRIM AC
