 J. SMC 1 AOA Sensor Input Test
 S 985-079-002
 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE AOA SENSORS ARE COOL BEFORE YOU TOUCH THEM.

 THE AOA SENSORS CAN BE SUFFICIENTLY HOT TO BURN YOU.

 (1)  
Slowly turn each AOA sensor between its stops (approximately 70°).

 (a)  
Make sure that only light torque is necessary to turn the sensor.

 (b)  
Make sure that there is no change in the torque.

 (2)  
Attach a test calibrator to each AOA sensor.

 (a)  
Set each AOA sensor trailing edge down 20 |1° from zero.

 (3)  
Do a check of the left AOA input to SMC 1:

 (a)  
Push the MENU button on the SMC maintenance control panel on the front of SMC 1.

 (b)  
Make sure that the SMC 1 display shows ARINC TESTS?.

 (c)  
Push the NO button on SMC 1.

 (d)  
Make sure that the SMC 1 display shows SENSOR TESTS?

 (e)  
Push the YES button on SMC 1.

 (f)  
Make sure that the ALPHA value on the SMC 1 display is -20 |1° - aerodynamic offset.


 NOTE: The aerodynamic offset is written on the trailing edge

 of the left AOA sensor.

 (g)  
Turn the left AOA sensor to -14°.

 (h)  
Make sure that the value on the SMC 1 display is -14 |1° - aerodynamic offset.

 (i)  
Turn the left AOA sensor to 0°.

 (j)  
Make sure that the value on the SMC 1 display is 0 |1° - aerodynamic offset.

 (k)  
Turn the left AOA sensor to 14°.

 (l)  
Make sure that the value on the SMC 1 display is 14 |1° - aerodynamic offset.

 (m)  
Turn the left AOA sensor to 20°.

 (n)  
Make sure that the value on the SMC 1 display is 20 |1° - aerodynamic offset.

SMC 2 AOA Sensor Input Test

 (1)  
Do a check of the right AOA input to SMC 2:

 (a)  
Push the MENU button on the SMC maintenance control panel on the front of SMC 2.

 (b)  
Make sure that the SMC 2 display shows ARINC TESTS?.

 (c)  
Push the NO button on SMC 2.

 (d)  
Make sure that the SMC 2 display shows SENSOR TESTS?

 (e)  
Push the YES button on SMC 2.

 (f)  
Make sure that the ALPHA value on the SMC 2 display is -20 |1° + aerodynamic offset.


 NOTE: The aerodynamic offset is written on the trailing edge

 of the right AOA sensor.

 (g)  
Turn the right AOA sensor to -14°.

 (h)  
Make sure that the value on the SMC 2 display is -14 |1° + aerodynamic offset.

 (i)  
Turn the right AOA sensor to 0°.

 (j)  
Make sure that the value on the SMC 2 display is 0 |1° + aerodynamic offset.

 (k)  
Turn the right AOA sensor to 14°.

 (l)  
Make sure that the value on the SMC 2 display is 14 |1° + aerodynamic offset.

 (m)  
Turn the right AOA sensor to 20°.

 (n)  
Make sure that the value on the SMC 2 display is 20 |1° + aerodynamic offset.

 (2)  
Remove the calibrators from the two AOA sensors.
