to extend the flaps.
a) Extend the flaps until the dimension X is 25.52 to
25.68 inches more than the dimension X1 (This is the 25-unit position).

b) Release the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch.
c) Put the ALTERNATE FLAP arm switch in the OFF position.
(c) Remove the four bolts that attach the flap position transmitter
to the gearbox (Fig. 506).
(d) Remove the transmitter from the gearbox.
(e) Turn the input shaft of the position transmitter clockwise
until the red indicator lever on the bypass valve moves to the
position 2.
(f) Make sure the angle between the pointers on the flap position
indicator is 8 to 20 degrees (a chordal dimension of 0.08 to
0.21 inch) (Fig. 507).
(g) Turn the input shaft of the position transmitter
counterclockwise until the red indicator lever on the bypass
valve moves to the position 1.
(h) Make sure the angle between the pointers on the flap position
indicator is 5 to 17 degrees (a chordal dimension of 0.05 to
0.18 inch).
NOTE: The pointer must move a minimum of 3 degrees before the____
indicator on the bypass valve moves.
(i) Turn the input shaft of the position transmitter
counterclockwise until the red indicator lever on the bypass
valve moves to the position 2.
(j) Make sure the angle between the pointers on the flap position
indicator is 8 to 20 degrees (a chordal dimension of 0.08 to
0.21 inch).
(k) Turn the input shaft of the position transmitter clockwise
until the red indicator lever on the bypass valve moves to the
position 1.
(l) Make sure the angle between the pointers on the flap position
indicator is 5 to 17 degrees (a chordal dimension of 0.05 to
0.18 inch).
NOTE: The pointer must move a minimum of 3 degrees before the____
indicator on the bypass valve moves.
(m) Turn the input shaft of the position transmitter clockwise
until the left pointer on the position indicator aligns with
the right pointer.
NOTE: When you turn the input shaft clockwise, the pointer____
should move towards the UP position. If the pointer
moves to the 40-unit position, turn the input shaft
clockwise until the left pointer aligns with the right
pointer.
Lightly hit the position indicator with your finger to
remove the friction error.

(n) Install the left flap position transmitter (Fig. 506): 1) Apply a layer of the grease to the splines on the input
shaft. 2) Put the transmitter in its position on the gearbox.
NOTE: Make sure the two pointers stay aligned.
