Adjust the adjusting nut 16 (Fig. 402), of the aft support link (4) to release the tension of the chain (14).

Loosen the turnbuckle (11) to release the tension in the cables.

Remove the primary stabilizer trim actuator (18) and the actuator cover (9) from the jackscrew gearbox (8).

Remove the electrical actuator (18) and the actuator cover (9) from the jackscrew gearbox (8).
(a)
Disconnect the electrical connectors (11) at the actuator.
(b)
Remove the bolts (12) that attach the support clips of the wire bundle clamp to the jackscrew gearbox cover.
(c)
Remove the three mounting bolts (15).
(d)
Remove the cover mounting bolt (19) from the actuator cover (9).
(e)
Remove the primary stabilizer trim actuator (18) and the actuator cover (9) from the jackscrew gearbox (8).

Remove the cable guards (23 and 26) from the cable drum (24).
(a)
Remove the four bolts that attach the cable guards between the
support plate (25) and the jackscrew gearbox. ú (b) Remove the cotter pin and the nut that attach the bottom of the ú aft cable guard (23) to the support plate (25).
(c)
Remove the four forward cable guards (26) and the support plate (25).
(d)
Remove the aft cable guard (23).
NOTE: Be sure to keep the washer (28) that is located between
____ the cable drum (24) and the support plate (25).

CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS KEEP TENSION ON THE CABLE WHILE
_______ UNWINDING IT FROM THE AFT DRUM. IF YOU DO NOT KEEP TENSION ON THE CABLE, IT MAY UNWIND ON THE FORWARD DRUM AND DAMAGE TO THE CABLE MAY OCCUR.
(9) Disconnect the STB cable (17) from the aft cable drum.
NOTE: The spline adapter may be needed to get additional slack to

remove the initial cable coil.

At the stab trim gearbox, pull the STA and STB cables aft to remove slack and install cable clamps at the pulley just aft of the pressure bulkhead.

Install the adapter on the internal spline of the jackscrew gearbox (8).

Move the jackscrew (2) to put the stabilizer leading edge to the full up position.
(a) When the stabilizer starts to move, pull the STB cable into the
tail compartment and wind it on a spool or a reel. Keep the
cable coils stacked in the same order as they were when they
