 5)  Tighten the nut to the nearest cotter pin hole and install the cotter pin.
 (h)  
Pull the outboard fairing closure door down to make sure it does not touch when you install the flap. 1) Attach the closure door with the tape.

 CAUTION:_______MOVE THE FLAP AFT CAREFULLY. MAKE SURE THE FLAP DOES NOT TOUCH THE STOP WITH TOO MUCH FORCE. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

 (i)  
Move the flap rearward, to the fully extended position.

 (j)  
Install the cross beam (3) on the outboard carriage: 1) Install the cross beam on the outboard carriage with the


 bolts. 2) Apply the sealant to the bolts. 3) On airplanes with lockwire bolts, install the lockwire on
 the bolts.

 (5)  
Install the forward rollers:

 (a)  
Install the forward rollers on the carriage.


 NOTE: It can be necessary to remove the rollers during the
____ flap adjustment. It is not necessary to tighten the bolts in this step.
 (b)  
Make sure that the eccentric bushings (4) are at the same position that they were in during the removal.

 (c)  
Make sure all eccentric bushings are in the same position.

 (6)  
Attach the ballscrews to the flap carriages:

 (a)  
Move the flap to the retracted position.

 (b)  
Put the ball nut (13) in the gimbal shaft yoke (12) at each end of the flap with the oil reservoir away from the gimbal yoke.

 (c)  
Make sure the clearance between the upstops on the ballscrew are not less than 3/4 turn of the ballscrew.

 (d)  
Hold the weight of the flap and install the bushings (10) in each side of the gimbal shaft.

 (e)  
Do this task: "Pressurize Hydraulic System B"
 (Ref 27-51-00/201).


 (f)  
Put the flap control lever in the 40-unit detent to extend the flaps.

 (g)  
Do this task: "Depressurize Hydraulic System B"
 (Ref 27-51-00/201).


 (h)  
Install the bolts (11) in the gimbal shaft yoke:


 1)  Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound on the bolts.

 2) Install the two bolts in each side of the gimbal shaft
 yoke. 3) Tighten the nuts at the inboard gimbal to the usual torque. 4) Tighten the nuts on the outboard gimbal to 30-40
 pound-inches.

Do this task: "Inboard Foreflap Installation" (Ref 27-51-07/401).

Adjust the Inboard Flap


 S 864-023
 (1)  
Slowly retract the flaps:

 (a)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP arm switch in the ARM position.

 (b)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP control switch in the UP position. Manually move the boom assembly to make sure it does not touch the structure.

 (c)  
Put the flap control lever in the UP detent.

 (d)  
Put the ALTERNATE FLAP arm switch in the OFF position.

 (e)  
Do this task: "Pressurize Hydraulic System B" (Ref 27-51-00/201).

 (f)  
Stop for 2 minutes, then do this task: "Depressurize Hydraulic System B" (Ref 27-51-00/201).


 S 224-024
 (2)  
Make sure the angular clearance between the upstops on the ball nut (13) and the flap drive screw is 170 to 190 degrees (1/2 turn |10 degrees).

 (a)  
If the clearance is not in the tolerance, do this task: "Trailing Edge Flap System Adjustment" (Ref 27-51-00/501).
