 B.  The BITE test is initiated by pressing a button on the face of the digital stall warning computer (DSWC). One or more LED indicator lights on the face of the DSWC will remain illuminated after the BITE test to indicate where the fault has occurred.
 (1)
The DISCRETE light indicates one of the following faults:

 (a)
On-Ground Fault: Air/ground relays indicate ground mode when airspeed is greater than 160 knots.

 (b)
In-Air Fault: Air/ground relays indicate air mode when airspeed is less than 60 knots.

 (c)
Asymmetry Fault: Leading edge light module signal indicates flap asymmetry when the flap position transmitter indicates flap position is less than 1 degree.

 (d)
Self-Test Fault: Self-test switch is pressed on for more than 20 seconds.

 (2)
The other lights indicate a failure of the corresponding component or system.

 C.
Certain faults which occur only during flight are stored in the DSWC fault memory. The fault memory can be cleared by pressing a button on the face of the DSWC. Performing a BITE test before and after the memory is cleared will indicate whether the fault occurred during the last flight or whether the fault still exists.

 (1)
There are five possible faults stored in DSWC fault memory:

 (a)
AOA Sensor Vane Transition Fault: AOA sensor vane did not move more than 3 degrees on last flight.

 (b)
Flap Angle Position Transition Fault: Flaps did not move more than 3/4 degrees on last flight.

 (c)
Engine N1 Transition Fault: N1 did not change more than 10% on last flight.

 (d)
Engine N2 Transition Fault: N2 did not change more than 10% on last flight.

On Ground Fault: Air/ground relays indicate on ground when airspeed is above 160 knots.

 D.
Some maintenance procedure may cause a fault to be stored in DSWC fault memory. The fault memory should be cleared after any stall warning system component is replaced.

 E.
If replacement of a system component does not correct the problem, check wiring (Ref WDM 27-32-12, 27-32-22).

 2.  DSWC BITE Test
______________
 A.  Press the START BITE switch on the front of the DSWC for one to two seconds and release.
 (1)  Record which light(s) remains on.
NOTE: Any light that remains on indicates either an existing fault
____
or a fault from the last flight.

 B.  Clear the fault memory by pressing the START BITE switch until one or more lights begin to flash (approximately 10 to 20 seconds) then release.
NOTE: After 10 seconds, the stored faults from the last flight will be
____
 erased.

 C.  Press the START BITE switch on the front of the DSWC for one to two seconds and release.
 (1)  Record which light(s) remains on.
NOTE: Any light that remains on indicates an existing fault.
____
 D.  Correct the fault which corresponds to the illuminated light.
NOTE: A light which was illuminated before clearing fault memory but not
____ after indicates one of the possible faults which can be stored in DSWC fault memory.
