 6)  Release the control column.
Use the captain's stabilizer trim switch to move the stabilizer
 in the APL NOSE DN direction.
 1)  While the stabilizer moves, pull the control column aft
 slowly until the column cutout switch stops the stabilizer.
 2)  Hold the control column in this position and immmediately release the captain's stabilizer trim switch.
 3)  Make sure the control column is between 3.20 and 4.21 degrees from the neutral position.
 4)  Continue to hold the control column in this position and move the captain's STAB TRIM switch to NOSE UP.
 5)  Make sure the stabilizer moves freely in the APL NOSE UP
 direction.
Set the column actuated trim override switch to override.
 1)  Pull the control column more than 6 degrees aft of the
 neutral position.

 2) Make sure the stabilizer trim can operate in the two directions. 3) Push the control column more than 4 degrees forward of the neutral position. 4) Make sure the stabilizer trim can operate in the two directions.
 (i)  Return the column actuated trim override switch to normal.

F71252 or F71267 - Adapter or Pinion Gear Wrench Assembly, repectively

 (2)  
F70326-1 (preferred), TE65-20804 (optional) - Torque Wrench Adapter

 (3)  
DPPH-150 (preferred), DPP-50 (optional) - Spring Scale.


 NOTE: The Spring Scale above may be used to measure force
____ at the hand wheel handle instead of using the torque wrench method.

 (1)
Remove the Primary Stabilizer Trim actuator (AMM 27-41-71/401).

Install the pinion adapter or the pinion gear wrench assembly on the internal spline on the gearbox.

Secure the adapter and make sure it does not turn.

Do a check of the manual clutch disconnect:

 (a)  
Do these steps 5 times:


 1)  Move one of the two stabilizer trim wheels airplane nose down until the manual clutch disengages. Use ONE of the

 following two methods:
 a)  Torque Wrench Method:____________________Using the adapter, torque
 the stabilizer trim wheel until the clutch disengages. The torque necessary to disengage the clutch is 160-215 pound-inches.
 b) Spring Scale Method:___________________Attach the Spring Scale to the trim wheel handle using the hook. Pull on the Spring Scale until the clutch disengages. The force necessary to disengage the clutch is 39-52 pounds.
 2)  Stop the handwheel.
 (b)  Do these steps 5 times: 1) Move one of the two stabilizer trim wheels airplane nose up

 until the manual clutch disengages. Use ONE of the
 following two methods:
 a) Torque Wrench Method:____________________Using the adapter, torque the stabilizer trim wheel until the clutch disengages. The torque necessary to disengage the clutch is 160-215 pound-inches.
