_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, AND LANDING GEAR CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Do this task: "Pressurize the Elevator Hydraulic Systems A and B" (Ref 27-31-00/201).
(2)
Open the access door 3701 (Ref 12-31-41/201).
(3)
Remove the access door 3802 (Ref 12-31-41/201).

Get access to the valve handles:
(a)
Remove the lower mounting bolt that attaches the locking bar to the module.
(b)
Turn the locking bar upward to get access to the valve handles.

Do a test of the module (Fig. 501):
(a)
Close the valves No. 2 and No. 5. 1) Make sure there is no hydraulic power for the rudders.
(b)
Open the valves No. 2 and No. 5.
(c)
Close valve No. 1.
(d)
Wait 10 seconds or until there is no visible motion of the actuator body.
NOTE: It is possible that no motion will occur.

(e)
Make sure that the actuator body is in the aft position.
(f)
Close the valve no. 4 and then open valve No. 1. 1) Make sure the actuator body moves forward 1.0-1.73 inches.
NOTE: The time for the actuater body to move can change
____ because of the bleed down rate of the remaining fluid in the actuator.
a) Put a 0-6 inch scale against the body of the actuator. b) Measure the change in distance to the centerline of the clevis attachment.
NOTE: You can measure at either end of the actuator

(g)
Close the valve No. 1.
(h)
Open the valve No. 4.
1) Make sure the actuator body moves aft 1.0-1.73 inches. a) Put a 0-6 inch scale against the body of the actuator.

(i) (j) (k) (l) (m) (n) (o) (p) (q) (r) (s) Open the valve No. 1.Turn on the system A electric motor driven pump (EMDP).Cycle the control column several times. 1) Do a check for leaks. 2) Make sure the elevator moves.Turn off the system A EMDP.Turn on the system B EMDP.Cycle the control column several times. 1) Do a check for leaks. 2) Make sure the elevator moves.Close the number three and six isolation valves.Turn on the system A EMDP (both EMDPS are on now).Cycle the control comumn. 1) Make sure the elevator does not move.Turn off the system A and system B EMDP.Open the number three and six isolation valves.
