 6)  If the threads do not engage in the limit, adjust the rod end: a) Remove the bolt from the rod end. b) Loosen the checknut. c) Turn the rod end and the sleeve to get the correct
 dimension. d) Install the bolt, washer and nut to attach the rod end. e) Make sure the valve slide and the index surface align
 in the limit.

 (2)  
Do a check of the adjustment of the control valve for the leading edge flaps (Fig. 503):

 (a)  
Make sure the rig pin F-1 is installed in the flap control unit.

 (b)  
Make sure the valve slide and the index surface of the control valve align in the limit of |0.010 inch.

 (c)  
If the surfaces do not align in the limit, adjust the leading edge link: 1) Remove the lockwire from the link. 2) Loosen the checknut on the link. 3) Remove the bolt from the rod end. 4) Turn the rod end to get the correct dimension. 5) Install the bolt, washer and nut in the rod end. 6) Make sure the valve slide and the index surface align in


 the limit. 7) Tighten the checknut. 8) Install the lockwire on the checknut. 9) Make sure the threads on the rod end engage the rod in the
 limit.

 CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THE RIG PIN F-1 IS NOT INSTALLED. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAP CONTROL UNIT WHEN YOU APPLY HYDRAULIC POWER IF THE RIG PIN IS INSTALLED.
 (3)  
Remove the rig pin F-1.

 (4)  
Supply the system B hydraulic power (AMM 27-51-00/201).

 S 865-020
 WARNING:_______ MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING
 EDGE AND TRAILING EDGE FLAPS.  THE FLAPS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO
 PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

 CAUTION:_______CAREFULLY MONITOR THE FLAP MOVEMENT. INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED PARTS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAP SYSTEM.
 (5)  
Move the flap control lever to the 5-unit detent to extend the flaps.

Move the flap control lever to the UP detent to retract the flaps.

 (a)  
Stop for 2 minutes to permit the flaps to fully retract.

Remove the system B hydraulic power (AMM 27-51-00/201).

Make sure you can easily install the rig pin F-1 in the flap control unit.

If you cannot easily install the rig pin, adjust the trailing edge cam link:

 (a)  
Remove the lockwire from the cam link.

 (b)  
Loosen the two checknuts on the cam link.

 (c)  
Remove the rig pin F-1.

 (d)  
Supply the system B hydraulic power (AMM 27-51-00/201).


 CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL THE RIG PIN F-1 WITH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
_______ PRESSURIZED. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAP CONTROL UNIT IF YOU INSTALL THE RIG PIN WITH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM PRESSURIZED.
 (e)  
Adjust the sleeve to align the rig pin holes for the rig pin F-1. 1) If it is necessary to turn the rig pin slot in the

 follow-up cam down, you must make the cam link shorter. 2) Turn the sleeve clockwise to make the cam link shorter.

 (f)  
Move the flap control lever to the 5-unit detent to extend the flaps.

 (g)  
Move the flap control lever to the UP detent to retract the flaps. 1) Stop for 2 minutes to permit the flaps to fully retract.

 (h)  
Remove the system B hydraulic power (AMM 27-51-00/201).
