Measure the lower surface of the midflap with the protractor to make sure the midflaps align in the limit of 1 degree.

If the angles are not in the limit, do this task: "Trailing Edge Flap Adjustment" (Ref 27-51-00/501).

 (b)  Fill the clearance between the skin and the seal with the sealant. If the clearance has the sealant applied, remove the sealant before the adjustment.

 AIRPLANES WITH THREE PUSHRODS; Adjust the exhaust gate rods (Fig. 405):

 (a)  
Remove the outboard panel from the lower surface of the midflap.

 (b)  
Install the rig pin in the FLAP-UP rig pin hole in the exhaust gate mechanism. 1) If you cannot install the rig pin, adjust the rod attached


 to the foreflap:
 a) Remove the rod that is attached to the foreflap and the

 exhaust gate mechanism. b) Install the rig pin into the FLAP-UP rig pin hole. c) Adjust the length of the rod. d) Install the rod on the foreflap and the exhaust gate
 mechanism.
 e) Remove the rig pin.

 (c)  Make sure the trailing edge of the exhaust gate and the aftflap
 align in the limits of 0.00 to 0.15 inch below the trailing
 edge of the aftflap.
 (d)  If the exhaust gate and the trailing edge are not in the
 tolerance, adjust the exhaust gate:
 1)  Hold the trailing edge of the exhaust gate.
 2)  Install the rig pin into the FLAP-UP rig pin hole.
 3)  Remove the rod from the exhaust gate and the exhaust gate
 mechanism.
 4)  Adjust the length of the rod.
 NOTE:____ One half turn of the end fitting will move the aft
 edge of the exhaust gate approximately 0.112 inch.
 5)  Install the rod on the exhaust gate and the exhaust gate
 mechanism.
 a)  Tighten the nuts on the rod to 30-40 pound-inches.
 (e)  Remove the rig pin.
 (f)  Install the outboard panel on the lower surface of the midflap.
 (g)  Remove the support from the trailing edge of the exhaust gate.

 AIRPLANES WITH TWO PUSHRODS; Adjust the exhaust gate rods (Fig. 405):

 (a)  
Remove the outboard panel from the lower surface of the midflap.

 (b)  
Make sure the foreflap pushrod is attached to the foreflap.

 (c)  
Make sure the angular clearance between the upstop and the flap drive ball screw is 170-190 degrees (1/2 turn +/-10 degrees).
