Remove the Inboard Trailing Edge Flap

Do this task: "Inboard Foreflap Removal" (Ref 27-51-07/401).

Remove the four bolts (11) from each gimbal shaft yoke (12).

 (a)  
Attach the bushings to the gimbal shaft yoke to make sure they stay installed.

Do this task: "Pressurize Hydraulic System B" (Ref 27-51-00/201).

Put the flap control lever in the UP detent.

Do this task: "Depressurize Hydraulic System B" (Ref 27-51-00/201).

Disconnect the ballscrew from the flap:

 (a)  
Install the sling assembly to hold the weight of the flap off the trunnions.


 NOTE: The total weight of the inboard midflap and aftflap is

 273 pounds.

 (b)  
Remove the four bushings (10) from the gimbal shaft.

 (c)  
Push the ball nut (13) away from the gimbal at each end of the flap.

 (d)  
Make sure the ball nut does not turn on the drive screw.

 (e)  Install the flap drive screw support assembly to hold the drive screw.

Remove the flap stops and rollers:

 (a)  
Disconnect the forward end of the aftflap drive boom (1) from the structure.

 (b)  
Remove the foreflap toggle stop (5) from the top of each flap track (6).

 (c)  
Remove the midflap carriage stop (7) from the flap track (6).

 (d)  
Move the flap to the 40-unit position.

 (e)  
Make a mark of the position of the pin of each forward roller eccentric bushing (4).


 NOTE: When you install the flap, you must install the bushings
____ in the same position to make the adjustment easier.
 (f)  
Remove the forward roller (2) from each side of the midflap carriages.

 (g)  
Remove the cross beam (3) from the bottom of the outboard carriage.

 CAUTION:_______REMOVE THE FLAP ASSEMBLY CAREFULLY. THE FLAP CAN BE DAMAGED EASILY.
 (8)  
Remove the inboard flap:

 (a)  
Move the flap rearward, off the flap track.

 (b)  
Install the rig pins in the holes in the outboard side of the boom to make sure the roller (9) does not move.

 (c)  
Install the forward rollers and the cross beam on the flap.

 (d)  
Keep the toggle stop and the carriage stop with the airplane.
