 (d)  If the clearance is not in the tolerance, adjust the clearance: 1) Loosen the bolts (9) that attach the preload pad. 2) Move the preload pad vertically to get the correct
 clearance.
 3) Tighten the bolts (9).

Adjust the seal if it does not touch the midflap for the full span: 1) Install a support to hold the outboard flap in its


 position. 2) Disconnect the torque tubes at each side of the inboard flap outboard transmission.
 3)  Use the flap drive adapter to turn the transmission input until the outboard end of the flap touches the seal. a) Make sure the angular clearance between the ball screw
 upstops is 170 to 190 degrees (1/2 turn |10 degrees). 4) Connect the torque tubes to the transmission. a) Install the lockwire on the screws. 5) Remove the support from the outboard flap.

 Extend and retract the flaps.

 (a)  
Make sure the there is a minimum of 0.25 inch clearance between the ballscrew and other components and structure.

 (b)  
Make sure the outboard ballscrew goes into the preload pad slightly before the flaps are in the full up position.

 (c)  Make sure that the two end fittings touch the preload pads tightly when the flaps are fully retracted.
