Do a Test of the Generator
S 865-091
(1) Close the generator field control relay (GCR).
(a) Momentarily set the GEN 1 switch (for engine No. 1) or the GEN 2 switch (for engine No. 2) on the P5 panel to ON.
S 865-092
CAUTION: WHILE THE ENGINE OPERATES, DO NOT SET THE "GEN 1" (OR 2) SWITCH
_______ TO "ON" UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT THE PHASE SEQUENCE IS CORRECT. AN INCORRECT PHASE SEQUENCE WILL CAUSE MOTORS TO TURN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO LOAD EQUIPMENT.
(2)
Do this task: "Start the Engine" (AMM 71-00-00/201).
S 215-093
(3)
Make sure the phase sequence is correct for the generator output voltage.
(a)
Get access to the generator breaker, found inside the right side of the nose wheel well (AMM 24-21-41/401).
(b)
Open the generator breakers.
(c)
Connect a phase sequence indicator to terminal A1 (phase A), A2 (phase B), A3 (phase C) of the generator breaker.
(d)
Make sure that the phase sequence is A-B-C.
NOTE: If the phase sequence is not correct, two output
____ wires are connected to the incorrect terminals.

TASK 24-21-00-825-105
4. On-Wing VSCF Voltage Regulator Adjustment
__________________________________________
A. General
(1) This procedure will adjust the VSCF voltage regulator.
B. Equipment
(1) GCU - Calibrated GCU to 115.5 +/- 0.2 volts when operated "off bus" in a closed loop non-VSCF system (APU channel).
NOTE: GCU's which operate in the APU channel at voltages other than
____
115.5 may be used if the duty cycle target (24%) is adjusted
as follows:
Add or subtract 4.5% to/from the duty cycle target for each
volt over or under 115.5 respectively.
(2) Fluke 87 multimeter - or equivalent meter that reeds duty cycle.
NOTE: The multimeter must have leads with large banana plugs
____ compatible with the M400 POWER SYSTEM TEST module.
C. Procedure
S 415-106
(1)
Install the calibrated GCU in the VSCF channel.
S 415-107
(2)
Connect the multimeter to the DC jacks of the M400 module and prepare to read duty cycle.
S 825-108
(3)
Set the M400 switches to A1 to read channel 1 or to B1 to read channel 2, as applicable.
S 865-109
(4)
Apply electrical power to the airplane with APU or external power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(5)
Momentarily put the GEN switch to the on position.
(6)
Start the applicable engine.
