Remove the VSCF.

Disconnect the air duct from the VSCF.

Disconnect the wires and leads from the VSCF.
(a)
Remove the cover from the generator terminals.
(b)
Disconnect the connector D6 (wire bundle W1502) from the VSCF.
(c)
Disconnect 6 output terminal leads from the studs on the VSCF.
1) Remove a nut, a lockwasher, a flat washer, and the terminal lead from each stud.
(d)
Disconnect 2 exciter terminal leads from the studs on the VSCF.
1) Remove the nut, the lockwasher, the flat washer, and the terminal lead from each stud.
(e)
Remove the bolts and the clamps that attach the yellow and the blue power feeder wires.
(f)
Disconnect the DPCT wire harness from the VSCF: 1) Remove the terminal board cover. 2) Remove the nuts and washers to disconnect the terminals
from the studs. 3) Remove the screws and washers that hold the clamps to the VSCF.

Drain the oil from the VSCF (AMM 12-13-21/301).

Remove the cavity drain plug and drain any remaining oil.

(5) Disconnect the hoses from the VSCF.
(a)
Remove the oil inlet hose from the VSCF. 1) Remove the nut, the elbow, the retainer from the oil inlet hose.
2) Remove the O-ring from the oil inlet hose and discard the O-ring.
(b)
Remove the oil outlet hose from the VSCF.
(c)
Disconnect these hydraulic hoses: 1) Disconnect the hydraulic case drain hose from 2 clamps. 2) Disconnect the hydraulic pressure hose from 2 clamps. 3) Disconnect the hydraulic supply hose from a clamp.

(6) Remove the parts that attach the VSCF to the accessory gearbox.
(a) Remove the QAD tension bolt.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU HOLD THE VSCF CORRECTLY WHILE YOU
_______ REMOVE IT. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INPUT SEAL ON THE DRIVE SHAFT.
(b)
Hold up the VSCF.
CAUTION:_______DO NOT USE A HAMMER ON THE QAD TENSION BOLT. DO NOT USE A DRIFT IN THE HOLE IN THE QAD BRACKET. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TENSION BOLT OR THE SWIVEL NUT.
(c)
Turn the QAD ring until the locking lugs do not engage.
1) You can lightly hit the locking ring boss with a brass drift and a plastic mallet to loosen the QAD ring.
(d)
Remove the QAD ring, the QAD adapter gaskets, the O-ring, and the adapter plate for the mounting pad.

(7) Remove the VSCF from the accessory gearbox.
(a) Remove the O-ring from the groove on the VSCF.
