WARNING:_______ DO NOT TOUCH THE OIL SYSTEM PARTS WHEN THEY ARE HOT. THESE
PARTS STAY HOTTER THAN THE OTHER ENGINE PARTS AFTER AN ENGINE
SHUTDOWN. OIL SYSTEM PARTS THAT ARE HOT CAN BURN YOU.
DO NOT LET THE OIL TOUCH YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. YOU CAN
ABSORB POISONOUS MATERIALS FROM THE OIL THROUGH YOUR SKIN. OIL
ON YOUR SKIN CAN CAUSE DERMATITIS AFTER A LONG TIME.
CAUTION:_______DO NOT REMOVE THE OUTER 3/4-INCH PLUG. THIS WILL CAUSE THE CSD OIL TO DRAIN.
IMMEDIATELY REMOVE ALL OF THE OIL THAT FALLS ON THE ENGINE PARTS. OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PAINT AND SOME RUBBER PARTS.
(2) Remove only the inner magnetic plug with a 9/16-inch or 14 mm wrench.
NOTE: A check valve prevents oil leakage when you remove only the
____ inner magnetic plug.

(3) Examine the metal particles that are on the magnetic plug (Fig. 602).
(a) If there is a large quantity of small metal particles, do as follows: 1) Use a brush and compressed air to remove all of the
particles from the magnetic plug. 2) Install the magnetic plug and torque from 15 to 20 pound-inches.
3) Examine the magnetic plug again after the engine operates again. If a large quantity of metal particles is on the magnetic plug, do as follows: a) Do not clean the magnetic plug. Install the magnetic
plug in the CSD. b) Replace the CSD (Ref 24-11-11/401). c) Replace the CSD oil cooler (AMM 24-11-21/401). d) Replace the CSD line oil filter (AMM 24-11-31/201). e) Replace all tubing for the CSD oil system.
(b) If there are bright metal chips or flakes on the magnetic plug, do as follows: 1) Do not clean the magnetic plug. Install the magnetic plug
in the CSD. 2) Replace the CSD (AMM 24-11-11/401). 3) Replace the CSD oil cooler (AMM 24-11-21/401). 4) Replace the CSD line oil filter (AMM 24-11-31/201).

(c) 5) Replace all tubing for the CSD oil system.If there is a small quantity of small metal particles on the magnetic plug, the CSD is serviceable.
(4) S 166-010Use a brush and compressed air to remove all of the particles from the magnetic plug.
