AC GENERATOR DRIVE SYSTEM - TROUBLE SHOOTING

1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains figures to isolate failures in the drive system of Variable Speed Constant Frequency Generator/Converters (referred to as VSCF). The failures show on the indicator lights and gages on the P5-5 module.
WARNING:_______DO NOT LET THE OIL GET ON YOUR SKIN. THE OIL CAN CAUSE SKIN PROBLEMS.
USE CAUTION WHEN YOU DO WORK WITH THE OIL SYSTEM. THE OIL CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. HOT OIL CAN CAUSE INJURIES.
2. Fault Isolation Tips

A. With the DRIVE TEMP switch in the IN position, it is usual for the temperature of the oil to be less than 40° C. The VSCF generates less heat than the CSD/Generator and lets the oil cooler supply oil at a lower temperature.
