Install the cooling-air collector ring:

 (a)  
Put the ring around the generator flange. 1) Put the aft edge of the ring in the mating groove at the aft end of the generator.

 2)  Put the tabs on the forward face of the ring in the two mating holes in the generator.

 (b)  
Install the tee-bolt nuts that attach the collector ring halves together.

 (c)  
Tighten the tee-bolt nuts to lock the collector ring halves.

 (5)  Attach the brackets for the hydraulic tubes to the generator.
 (a)  Remove and replace the fasteners on the air blast connector cap, as it is necessary, to install the brackets.

 (6)  Connect the exciter leads to the generator:
 (a)  
Put each electrical lead for the exciter on its correct terminal stud.

 (b)  
Install a flat washer, then a lockwasher, then a nut on top of each exciter wire terminal.

 (c)  
Tighten the exciter terminal nuts to 20-25 pound-inches.

 (d)  
Remove the identification tags from the exciter electrical leads.

 (e)  
Install the exciter terminal cover.

 (7)  Connect the generator leads to the generator:
 (a)  
Put each electrical lead for the generator on its correct terminal stud.

 (b)  
Install a flat washer, then a lockwasher, then a nut on top of each generator wire terminal.

 (c)  
Tighten the generator terminal nuts to 144-168 pound-inches.

 (d)  
Remove the identification tags from the generator electrical leads.

 (e)  
Install the generator terminal cover.

 (8)  Attach the clamp block:
 (a)  
Put the clamp block for the generator leads in its position on the collector ring.

 (b)  
Install the two fasteners that attach the block to the ring.

 (9)  Install the cooling-air inlet duct:
 (a)  
Install the inlet duct on the air blast connector cap.

 (b)  
Install the two clamps that attach the duct to the cap.

 (c)  
Install the tube clamps on the duct.

 (10) For the applicable engine, remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers:
 NOTE: X = engine 1 or 2, as applicable.

 F. Do a Test of the Generator
 S 864-032
 (1)  Close the generator field control relay (GCR).
 (a)  Momentarily set the GEN 1 switch (for engine No. 1) or the GEN 2 switch (for engine No. 2) on the P5 panel to ON.

 CAUTION: WHILE THE ENGINE OPERATES, DO NOT SET THE "GEN 1" (OR 2) SWITCH
_______ TO "ON" UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT THE PHASE SEQUENCE IS CORRECT. AN INCORRECT PHASE SEQUENCE WILL CAUSE MOTORS TO TURN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO LOAD EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  Do this task: "Start the Engine" (Ref 71-00-00/201).
 NOTE: If unsure that phase sequence is correct, you can do this
____ task: The Phase Sequence Test (AMM 24-21-00/501).

 (3)  
Do a check of the generator voltage output:

 (a)  
Set the ac meter selector switch (S957) on the forward overhead panel (P5) to GEN 1 (for engine No. 1) or GEN 2 (for engine No. 2).
