 (2)  Put electrical loads on the ac buses.
 (a)  
Use the lights, air conditioning, fuel boost pumps, and hydraulic pumps.

 (b)  
Apply loads until the applicable generator ammeter No. 1 or 2 on the P5-4 panel shows more than 40 amperes.

 (3)  Make sure that the power quality and the oil temperature are satisfactory.
 (a)  
Make sure that the frequency meter shows 400 | 5 Hz.

 (b)  
Make sure that the ac voltmeter shows 115 | 5 volts.

 (c)  
Push the DRIVE TEMP switch on the P5-5 panel to IN.

 (d)  
Make sure that the IN temperature indication on the applicable GEN DRIVE OIL TEMP meter on the P5-5 panel is less than 135 degrees C.


 NOTE: The usual temperature during operation of the VSCF is
____ less than the CSD. The temperature can be less than 40 degrees C.
 (e) Push the DRIVE TEMP switch on the P5-5 panel to RISE.

 (f)  Make sure that the RISE temperature indication on the applicable GEN DRIVE OIL TEMP No. 1 or 2 meter on the P5-5 panel is less than 20 degrees C.

Remove the electrical loads that you applied before (lights, air conditioning, fuel boost pumps, and hydraulic pumps).

Push and release the GRD PWR or the APU GEN No. 1 and 2 switches to ON.

 (a)  
Make sure that the applicable GEN OFF BUS No. 1 or No. 2 light comes on.

 (b)  
If the APU generator is the ground power source, make sure that the APU GEN OFF BUS light goes off.

 


 F. Do a Test of the Electrical Disconnect in the VSCF.

 (1)  Operate the applicable DISCONNECT No. 1 or No. 2 switch on the P5-5 panel.
 (a)  
If the guard on the DISCONNECT switch has lockwire in it, remove the lockwire.

 (b)  
Lift the guard on the DISCONNECT switch.

 (c)  
Push and release the DISCONNECT switch.

 (2)  
Make sure that the applicable DRIVE or LOW OIL PRESSURE No. 1 or No. 2 light comes on.

Make sure that there is no residual voltage.

 (a)  
Push and hold the RESID VOLTS button.

 (b)  
Make sure that the bottom scale of the ac voltmeter shows less than 5 volts.

 (c)  
Release the RESID VOLTS button.

 

 (4)  
Do a shutdown of the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201).

Lower the guard on the DISCONNECT switch.

 (a)  If there was lockwire in the guard when you disconnected the VSCF, install new lockwire.

Do the Fault History Display Procedure to Connect the VSCF Again (Fig. 501).
