A failure in the VSCF will make a FF indication show on the M238 annunciator panel. If the FF indication shows, do this test before you do the trouble-shooting for a feeder fault.
(3)
The BITE test is only accurate if the VSCF has operated since it was installed on the airplane. If the VSCF has not operated since it was installed, you must do the system test.
(4)
The VSCF is on the accessory gearbox at the 8 o'clock position.

(5) Push and hold the switch on the VSCF to LAMP TEST. (a) Make sure that the VSCF FAULT and the AIRCRAFT OPEN PHASE lights come on.

(6) AIRPLANES WITH -15, -16, -19 AND -20 VSCF GENERATOR/CONVERTER; Release the LAMP TEST button on the VSCF.

(7) Push and hold the switch on the VSCF to INDICATE. (a) Make sure that the VSCF FAULT and the AIRCRAFT OPEN PHASE lights go off. 1) If the VSCF FAULT light is on as a result of a system trip, do the following: a) Troubleshoot the AC Generation System (AMM 24-21-00/101). 2) If the VSCF FAULT light is found on when performing a scheduled maintenance check (no system trip reported), do the following: a) Reset the VSCF FAULT light on -15 or -16 VSCF Generator/Converters (AMM 24-11-12/501).
