A. General
(1)
This test will also make sure that the disconnect wiring for the VSCF operates correctly. When you push the DISCONNECT switch, the VSCF disconnects electrically (removes the field current) and the generator continues to turn. When you push the switch on the VSCF to DISCONNECT RESET, the VSCF connects again.

Prepare for the Disconnect Test.

(1) Supply electrical power to the airplane busses from the APU generator or the external power source (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(a) Make sure that the applicable DRIVE or LOW OIL PRESSURE No. 1
or 2 light on the P5-5 panel is on.Do a Test of the Electrical Disconnect Wiring for the VSCF.

Open the applicable Engine Start Valve circuit breaker on the P6-2 panel (ENGINES START VALVE ENG 1 [C1103]) or (ENGINES START VALVE ENG 2 [C154]) to override the engines not running lockout of disconnect function installed on some airplanes.

Operate the applicable DISCONNECT No. 1 or No. 2 switch on the P5-5 panel.
(a)
If the guard on the DISCONNECT switch has lockwire in it, remove the lockwire.
(b)
Lift the guard on the DISCONNECT switch.
(c)
Push and release the DISCONNECT switch.
