CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE THAT YOU KEEP THE CONSTANT SPEED DRIVE CLEAN DURING
THIS PROCEDURE. DO NOT LET UNWANTED MATERIAL GO INTO THE DRIVE
SYSTEM. DIRT AND OTHER UNWANTED MATERIAL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO
THE CONSTANT SPEED DRIVE.
(1) Examine the parts:
(a)
Clean the O-ring groove on the end of the CSD case.
(b)
Make sure that the O-ring groove is in a good condition.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE A CSD WITH DAMAGED OR DEFECTIVE SPLINES.
_______ DEFECTIVE SPLINES CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CSD AND THE ACCESSORY GEARBOX.
(c)
Make sure that the splines on the CSD input shaft are not damaged.
(d)
Make sure the drive splines in the accessory gearbox are not damaged.
(e)
Make sure that the lock lugs on the QAD ring and the CSD case are not damaged.
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THAT THE SPLINES ARE CLEAN. UNWANTED MATERIAL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CSD AND THE ACCESSORY GEARBOX.
(f)
Clean the CSD input spline with a solvent.
(g)
If there is preservative oil in the CSD case, drain the CSD.
NOTE: You must drain the preservative oil in the CSD
____ before you install the unit. You do not have to flush the CSD case.
(h)
Install the case drain plug on the CSD with your fingers.
(i)
Make sure that the QAD ring is in the correct position.

(2) If the QAD ring is not in the correct position, install the QAD ring:
(a) Lubricate the inner surface of the QAD ring. Use 730691 or Rheolube 733MZ or Rheotemp 500MZ or a 1:1 mixture by weight of Molybdenum Disulfide and Unitemp 500.

(b)
Put a new gasket on the adapter plate of the QAD ring.
1) Make sure that the holes in the gasket align with the holes and the alignment pin on the adapter plate.
(c)
Lubricate the O-ring with Acryloid.
(d)
Install the O-ring in the groove on the adapter plate of the QAD ring.
(e)
Put a thin layer of grease on the threads that connect the QAD ring to the adapter plate. Use 730691 or Rheolube 733MZ or Rheotemp 500MZ or a 1:1 mixture by weight of Molybdenum Disulfide and Unitemp 500.
(f)
Put the QAD ring in its position on the adapter plate.
(g)
Start the threads that connect the QAD ring to the adapter plate.
(h)
Look at the top/front of the adapter plate on the QAD ring.
(i)
Make sure that the lock lugs on the QAD ring are at the 12 o'clock to the 3 o'clock position.
(j)
Put a new gasket on the drive pad of the accessory gearbox.
1) Make sure that the holes in the gasket align with the holes and the alignment pin on the drive pad.
(k)
Install the QAD ring and the adapter plate as an assembly.
1) Make sure that the hole for the alignment pin aligns with the hole in the gasket.
(l)
Use the CSD oil to lubricate the 12 QAD ring screws.
(m)
Connect the QAD ring assembly to the accessory gearbox with the 12 screws. 1) Tighten the screws to a torque of 240 to 276 pound-inches.
(n)
Make sure that the QAD ring will turn freely.

(3) Install a new O-ring on the CSD:
(a)
Lubricate a new O-ring with Acryloid.
(b)
Install the new O-ring in the retainer groove on the CSD.
(c)
Install a new gasket on the CSD.
F. Install the CSD and the Generator

(1) Install the CSD:
NOTE: The CSD and the generator are usually installed as a

unit, if you have the adapter.
