 NOTE:____ The -19 and -20 VSCF Generator/Converters reset automatically after 20 flights.
 3)  b) Do the VSCF Disconnect test on the -15 or -16 VSCF Generator/Converters (AMM 24-11-11/501). c) If the VSCF FAULT light is on at the next schedule maintenance check - replace the VSCF Generator/Converter (AMM 24-11-11/401).If the AIRCRAFT OPEN PHASE light is on, do as follows: a) Do trouble-shooting to the power feeder cables and the main power circuit breakers (AMM 24-21-00/101). b) Supply electrical power from the engine generator (AMM 24-22-00/201).
 NOTE:____ This will operate the VSCF and remove the AIRCRAFT OPEN PHASE failure indication.

 2. System Test - Variable Speed Constant Frequency Generator/Converter
___________________________________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
This test will make sure that the variable speed constant frequency generator/converter (VSCF) will supply power to loads correctly. During this test, it is necessary to operate the engine and connect the VSCF to loads. The loads that you will use are the lights, air conditioning, fuel boost pumps, and hydraulic pumps.

 (2)  
This test will also make sure that the disconnect circuits for the VSCF operate correctly. When you push the DISCONNECT switch, the VSCF disconnects electrically (removes the field current) and the generator continues to turn. When you push the INDICATE button or the BIT switch to INDICATE, the VSCF connects again.

 (3)  
When a failure occurs in the VSCF, it will give these indications:

 (a)  
The FF light on the M238 annunciator panel will come on.

 (b)  
The output voltage from the VSCF will stay at 8 volts.

 (c)  
The VSCF FAULT light on the VSCF will come on when you push the INDICATE button or the BIT switch to INDICATE.

 

 (4)
The VSCF is on the accessory gearbox at the 8 o'clock position.
