(11) On the Fluke 87 multimeter, make sure the meter shows OL when attached or touched to each circuit breaker.
(a) If the meter does not indicate OL when a GCU circuit breaker is touched, do these steps: 1) Replace the GCU (AMM 24-21-81/401) 2) Remove the main battery (AMM 24-31-11/201) 3) Install a main battery that has been reconditioned in
accordance with the battery manufacturer's component maintenance manual (AMM 24-31-11/201).

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains eight tasks:
(1)
A task to supply external power to the buses
(2)
A task to remove external power from the buses
(3)
A task to supply power to the ground service buses only
(4)
A task to remove power from the ground service buses only
(5)
A task to supply the APU generator power to the buses
(6)
A task to remove the APU generator power from the buses
(7)
A task to supply the power from the engine-driven generator to the buses
(8)
A task to remove the power from the engine-driven generator from the buses.
B.
The tasks give steps to energize the ac and dc buses for maintenance or ground servicing. The tasks also give steps to remove electrical power from the airplane.
C.
Each task that removes power gives instructions to move the BAT switch to the OFF position. If you let the BAT switch stay in the ON position without ac power, the electrical power of the battery will decrease. The electrical power of the battery can decrease at a rate of 30 to 40 amps. At this rate, the battery will have no electrical power after one to two hours.
D.
When the external air temperature is more than 100°F (37.8°C), electrical equipment can become too hot. If you supply electrical power for more than 20 minutes, you can supply conditioned air (AMM 21-00-00/201) to keep the electrical equipment cool.

2. Supply External Power to the Buses (Fig. 201)__________________________________
A. General

The airplane has an external power receptacle near the nose wheel well. You will connect external ac power to the receptacle to connect electrical power to the buses.
