 WARNING:_______ DO NOT GO BELOW THE BATTERY WHICH HANGS FROM THE BATTERY HOIST. DO NOT MOVE THE BATTERY SUCH THAT IT IS ABOVE YOUR HEAD DURING THE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION PROCEDURE. THE LINE THAT HOLDS THE BATTERY CAN BREAK AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 (h) (i) (j)  Turn the crank of the hoist to lift the battery through the access door of the electrical compartment.Move the battery to the battery tray with the battery hoist.Lower the battery into the battery tray.
 (2)  S 012-028Disassemble and remove the battery hoist.
 (3)  S 432-029Install the screws that hold the battery in the correct position.
 (4)  S 432-032Install the battery thermostat connector.
 (5)  S 432-033Install the battery connector.
 (6)  S 422-074Install lockwire on the battery connector knob (AMM 20-10-44/401).
 NOTE:____ Sealing wire may be used on the battery connector knob.
 (7)  S 712-034Do a test on the battery. (a) Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and close these circuit breakers: 1) P18-5 Circuit Breaker Panel a) C22 HOT BATTERY BUS (b) Make sure that the DC BUS INDICATION - HOT BAT circuit breaker on the P6-5 panel is closed.

 (c)  Turn the dc meter switch on the P5-13 which is on the pilot's overhead panel to the BAT position. 1) Make sure that the dc voltmeter shows approximately 24
 volts.

 (a)  P6-4 Load Control Center Panel
 1) C809 BAT CHARGER
 2) C842 ALT BAT CHARGER

Supply the electrical power to charge the battery
 (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 Do the steps for the Charge Mode Test in the Operation Test (AMM 24-31-21/501).

 Set the clock GMT and DATE.

 NOTE: Refer to AMM 31-25-00/501 for the details of the clock.

 (1)  
Remove the battery from the airplane before you examine the battery (this procedure is recommended).

 (a)  The removal of the battery will let you examine the battery support brackets and the battery cover.

Cart or hand-truck - Suitable to move the battery to and from the airplane.

 WARNING:_______KEEP ALL METAL OBJECTS (FOR EXAMPLE: TOOLS, WIRE, BRUSHES, WATCH BANDS, RINGS, AND IDENTIFICATION BRACELETS) AWAY FROM THE OPEN TOP OF THE BATTERY. A SHORT CIRCUIT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 CAUTION:_______CLEAN ALL OF THE BATTERY FLUID LEAKAGE IMMEDIATELY. THE BATTERY FLUID CAN CAUSE CORROSION DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE STRUCTURE.
 (1)  
Remove the battery from the airplane (AMM 24-31-11/201).

Examine the battery for mechanical damage or fluid leakage.

 (3)  
Clean the battery if there are fluid leakage.

 NOTE: Fluid leakage can be an indication of cell damage.
