D. Do a Test of the Charge Mode
S 765-005
(1) As the battery charges, look for an indication of more than 26 amps on the dc ammeter.
NOTE: A dead battery can charge for 60 minutes.

(2) When the battery is fully charged, make sure that the battery charger goes into the pulse mode.
(a)
The dc ammeter indication will decrease to 0 amps.
(b)
Then, the dc ammeter indication will increase to 13 - 36 amps.
(c)
These pulses will occur 8 times, approximately 10 seconds apart.
NOTE: The time between the battery charger pulses can vary due
____ to the state of battery charge.

(3) After the pulses stop, make sure that the battery charger goes into the transformer-rectifier mode.
(a)
The dc voltmeter indication will stay constant at 28 | 2 volts.
(b)
The dc ammeter indication will stay constant at approximately 0 amps.
E. Do a Test of the Protection Mode

(1)
Push the STANDBY POWER switch to BAT.
(2)
Open the electronic equipment access door.
(3)
Remove the small battery connector D2936 from the battery.

Connect a jumper wire between the pins 1 and 2 of the small battery connector.

Make sure that the dc ammeter shows a negative value.

Remove the jumper wire that is between pins 1 and 2 of the small battery connector.

Connect the small battery connector to the battery.

Make sure that the dc ammeter shows a positive value again.

Close the electronic equipment access door.

Do a Test of the Transformer-Rectifier Mode

(1)
Push the APU GEN 1 and 2, or the GEN 1 and 2 switches to OFF to remove the power from the battery charger.

Let a minimum of 15 seconds go by.
NOTE: This will drain the battery sufficiently to put the battery

charger into the pulse mode again.

(3) Push the APU GEN 1 and 2, or the GEN 1 and 2 switches to ON.
(a) Make sure that the dc ammeter indication stays constant (no pulses) for 20 seconds.

(4) Push the STANDBY POWER switch to AUTO.
(a) Make sure that the battery charger goes into the pulse mode.

G. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition S 865-020

Turn the dc meters switch to TR1.

Remove electrical power if it is not necessary (Ref 24-22-00/201).
